Mother 3 + (Case + Game) English Fan Translation - Earthbound Nintendo Game Boy Advance GBA Custom Cart Box

These are a thing on Etsy, for those that are interested.

As are modded (as in a nicer screen and a backlight) OG GBAs by the way. Why would you want one of those if GBA SPs exist, you may ask? Because the SP's internal batteries will fail and explode, whereas the OG GBAs use regular batteries (unless you get one that has a rechargeable battery modded into it, which I don't recommend). An example:

Nintendo Game Boy Advance GBA Glacier System AGS 101 Brighter Backlit Mod MINT (Pick Button Color!)

You can of course replace the SP's batteries (or buy a model which has a new battery), but at some point the problem will come back to haunt you again. If you do get an SP because of the form factor, don't just buy one randomly, because there are critical differences.

I know many of you know this, but I think the Switch brought in some people that probably don't, but are starting to get into all this.

I've made it to where I made it my last play before I deleted my file by accident. So excited. On the 5th needle underwater and have no idea where the story is going but I'm so into it. Ahhhhh I don't want it to end.

Apparently Nintendo announced that Super Mario Party doesn't work with the pro controller or, perhaps in the most fucking crazy decision ever, in handheld mode.

What's the fucking point of having a Switch game, especially one made by Nintendo, that doesn't work in handheld mode? That defeats the purpose of the system.

While I agree that it is awkward in this case, I also like that they’re not too rigid about that because Mario Maker. Exceptions to a rule don’t destroy a rule.

I went to this local anime con (because why not) and bought this for more than I'd like to admit. I also took a picture with a guy that cosplayed as Luigi from Luigi's Mansion.

Lmao what?!? How can they announce this after the game has been available for preorder for so long.

It's a waggle game though, that's just what it is. It probably works in handheld mode provided you don't attach the joy cons?

Is it handheld mode if you don’t attach the joycons though?

I guess it makes sense though if you need the joycons for motion controls for all the minigames.

Yeah you're right, non-docked without joy con attached is tabletop mode lol

Anyway, I think this isn't a big deal, they shouldn't feel like they always have to confine their choices to the game working in all three modes.

Lame for sure if it doesn't work in handheld mode but I get it

I'm reading all these great things about MK8 voice chat, like it's the one peaceful place for online gaming with chat. I need to check this out before it's ruined by people born after the year 2000.

This was probably covered and I’m sorry but I am lazy to go back and find. Nintendo online worth getting if I maybe play five or so hours a week?

But that quite little defeats the purpose of the system...

Sure, you have a Mario party game again, but a LOT of people buy the Switch just for the portability and a LOT of people play primarily in handheld mode. To alienate that audience, the audience you targeted and promoted from the very beginning, is asinine. You also state that shit upfront.

Nintendo's decisions make no sense a good 60%-75% of the time and it's really frustrating. So many things should be easy slam dunks from them, from their online to their 1st party games or their marketing, but they always manage to pull some weird shit at the 11th hour and it's annoying.

I love Nintendo for not playing by the normal rules of the industry and for trying some truly innovative and fun things, but can't they just try to make logical decisions once in a while? It would be nice.

I think they'll get enough backlash that there'll be an update to allow it to be done in handheld mode and with a pro controller. Lets just see how they do at launch.

From what I've read, it's because a lot of the games simply can't work in handheld mode or with the pro controller because they have some really specific control setups. They'd have to rebuild a bunch of the minigames which wouldn't be cost effective for them, but also should have been something they thought about in the first place.

Nintendo’s history shows that most their decisions seem to make sense regardless of anyone’s perception. A lot of them “make sense” to me too for what’s it’s worth, but I also have a business degree and I studied Japanese business culture.

Anyway, if you don’t like the controls of a game, don’t buy it. It’s only alienating to people who desperately wanted to play Mario Party alone, without motion controls, on a HD handheld, in 2018, so I think the damage can be contained.

20 years ago this week, Pokemon Red & Blue launched in the US. Still going strong. Here’s to another 20.

Honestly except for my family members nothing else has been a consistent presence in my life for as long as Pokemon. Wild.

Yeah, Mario Party having to play in docked mode makes complete sense. Honestly when I pictured playing the game it was always in docked mode, undocked just doesn't seem like a good fit for MP naturally. Those 3ds mario parties are awful.

Same. It had a Charizard in it. I didn’t know what that meant back then, so my asshole friend convinced me that him giving me four trash cards for it makes total sence. I stole it back years later.
