i’ve easily played over 200 hours of Towerfall and i can comfortably say it’s my favorite couch competitive game ever. it won’t have online though, never has, dev is insistent on maintaining the local multiplayer

it has a campaign where you kill waves of enemies, and that’s fun enough, but there is no story or exploration whatsoever. think of it as a multiplayer game with an arcade mode.

So... I finally caved in and bought Hollow Knight. I'm usually not into 2D games at all but I'm enjoying it so far. I have to say I bought it because of the hype in this thread, a million pages ago.

for anybody still struggling with Hollow Knight, it gets easier! I started a new file after beating the game with the hopes of fully completing it one day and bosses that used to give me immense trouble now feel doable on the first or second try. The game really encourages you to get better and it's been really rewarding realizing how much I've improved. About 11 hours in this time around and just have to do Watcher Knights/Hollow Knight where I was comparatively about 25 hours in at this point last time around.
If anybody is on the fence or on the verge of giving up - don't! You will get better and it's difficult but hardly unforgiving. Probably my favorite game of all time at this point and I've never been overly proficient at these sorts of things.

Anybody play The Messenger yet? Likely buying it tomorrow when I get paid

I'm offended you don't bring your switch with you given how much you travel, sir.

Currently on my phone but I’ll add it later when I get on a PC.

Yeah. It’s really good. It’s more of a puzzle game I think compared to stuff like Advance Wars and Fire Emblem, and there’s less room for errors.

The one thing I love is that it gives you perfect information on what happens next. So everything that happens after you move you should’ve been able to see coming. I think the only luck based thing off it - aside for some rewards - is when monsters wreck buildings there’s a chance for the building to resist. There’s a gameplay element that increases the % of that.

And the way they tie the time travel aspect is very, very cool. Whenever you fail a game you get to pick one pilot to send back in time and carry over to the new game (aka new timeline).

There is no customization for pilots (but they can level up to 3) but you can upgrade mechs. And like FTL you can unlock more ships later on. Haven’t finished it yet. I run through the islands easily but I keep choking at the last level haha.

Yeah I had no idea how I would feel about into the breach but after some playtime it turns out I'm pretty decent at strategizing and once you get the hang of it, it's really a blast to plan out your next moves .I've never played anything like it

this sounds great. I’m not huge on strategy games but this one seems like a pretty decent entry point and I’ve been patiently waiting for it to come to Switch. I hit 95% on Hollow Knight and need something completely different to play in between sessions.
