I've clocked stupid hours due to sheer portability on games that are available elsewhere that I wouldn't be able to do otherwise. If anything, I expect this to be the dominant console for years to come for people that don't whine about frame rate dips

I don't think I have that dash yet. Haven't played since my last post, haha. But awesome that it's clicking for you now.

I had a run where I got 4 different kind of shields: the earth one you mentioned (ENHANCED!), the 2 electric ones, and the ice one. It was crazy.

I did, and tbh I like your posts as a whole because you're far more invested in gaming than I am.
I do still disagree with you. Dropping Mario and Zelda in the same year is very blatantly a reason for the console's success, delaying Odyssey would have been stupid given it's a kid friendly game that without question moved tons of units for Christmas.

I just don't see how anybody would have any reason to worry about Nintendo at this point, they've killed it every step of the way. We have Metroid, Pokemon, and Smash all confirmed to be coming, along with a bunch of shit we don't know about. Those aside, we have games coming out across all consoles that I don't need to sit on a couch and control the TV to play them.

I don't see any reason why anybody would think the console is remotely in trouble. Unless it's the community that whines about frame rate dips on Reddit AMAs, there's no justification to think that the Switch is in decline. I think, if anything, it will become the primary console used (outside of exclusives we don't have access to)

Well, I have to admit. I appreciate your honesty and the fact that you took the time to reply to me.

I wouldn't say the console faces trouble and I apologize if I didn't explain my points properly enough. The Wii was a great system in the beginning as well. It sold tons of units and had some great games and the novelty of the motion controls were great, but after a while the novelty of the system really wore on me and made some of the games an absolute drag to play. My best example would be Skyword Sword which I think would be a much much better game without finicky and forced motion controls. Anyway, the whole reason I brought that up is that this just seems to be bothering me.

And I will fully admit this is a personal opinion, not anyone else's or anything. I just don't want it to be something I love at first but habe no desire to play later because there's still no decent online voice chat and I want to be able to easily communicate with my friends, for that I would switch to my PS4, I don't want to have to turn on my PS4 to use Netflix, Crunchyroll or Youtube, when I would rather use my Switch which is already set up or can even be used in my bed with a bigger screen than my phone.

I know this is all relatively tiny arguments and I get that Nintendo wants to differentiate themselves from their competition and their consoles, but not having basic staples in your console in 2018 a year after launch just makes me worry about their decisions.

Also, I think it's just a bad business practice for them to be charging for cloud saves since we have no other way to back up our systems.

Im 100% kidding, this is the Internet

I did read your post (and all your posts) and that's the reason I'm buying Yoku on Friday!

Just think gaming should be less critical and more "look at all the cool shit we have" but this is coming from someone who hasn't played much since the GCN came out lol

@Vase Full Of Rocks I said that before seeing your lengthy response, my bad for not addressing any of it. All of your detriments are just irrelevant to me as someone with a renewed interest in games, I guess. I've never known cloud saves so I don't miss em, but Nintendo is a bit of a different entity I guess. If they keep pumping out quality like they have been, I'm here for it - and I haven't even gotten to Rabbids or Xenoblade yet. I guess I feel like they made something for me, wanting to play a ton but didn't have the ability due to convenience until now

That's a really good point actually because I suppose I'm just on the other side of the coin. I play my PS4 a lot and have been a relatively dedicated to gaming for a while now so my views are definitely skewed in a different direction. I guess the other thing is Nintendo has never been big into online so the fact they're taking their time and have to create a solid foundation makes sense. It just seems like this should have been done in the past console generation.

Also Rabbids is such a gem because it surprised everyone with its quality. Xenoblade 2 is very long from what I've read so I don't know when I'll get around to it considering there are so many games out right now.

I just don't want the Switch to become like the Vita because I loved my Vita and don't want to go through that again haha.

Yeah, more than fair. They are definitely trying to appeal to people like me who weren't gamers and this console sucked me right back in. If I had the option to play a game with better graphics that would be different, but the joy of the Switch for me is I can play while my girlfriend watches Teen Mom or whatever and still be present. It's definitely a different demographic but I think it's a large one tbh.

I'll concede with you that they need to get their shit together with online. The fact that my friend needs to jump in a room on Splatoon and I have to wait to join is so silly after easy matchmaking on consoles. Idk, I trust they'll get it together but we'll see

At this point I just want a new Animal Crossing to at least be announced because if they have a really good online infrastructure for that they can make going to other people's towns and minigames much more fun.

Yoku’s Island Express looks great. I think it was Patrick Klepek’s writeup on Waypoint that first got me interested.

I also hate that I can’t delete the Aces demo and still get normal Mario clothes.

I hate that too, but thankfully when the game comes out and you claim the outfit you'll be able to delete the demo.

Unfortunate side effect of the game allowing you to take him on anytime after you leave the plateau.

    so much for them! Prestigious

i actually died against ganon a couple of times, i could never stay on the horse long enough to actually fight it on it, i would immediately get hit and lose the horse for the whole battle.

Hit by what? I ran circles around Ganon and never encountered anything that could even damage me. I was wondering what the point of that fight was. It seemed impossible to lose unless I purposely ran into him.

i somewhat remember him always starting the fight by immediately shooting out the beam that creates the draft directly at me. it was easier for me to avoid that attack as the fight progressed but that first one on the horse would hit me 100% of the time.

BOTW is a great game, but pretty overrated in my opinion. Ganon is supposed to be this big bad and this terrible threat and I can take 3900879272 hours in the game doing whatever I want with absolutely no sense of urgency from anyone. Then when you finally get to Ganon, he's an absolute bummer of a fight. He's like what I would have done for a boss halfway through any other game. He's just not quite final boss material. It was incredibly anticlimactic.
