Is it a new smash game or a Wii U remake?

 

please don't implode I want to play this game

 

captain toad had better be in smash bros

 

Smash Bros and Octopath Travel release date have me very excited

 

Only question that remains re Smash is whether this is just gonna be a port + extra shit, or an entirely new game. 'Cause if it's an entirely new entry, I believe it'll be the shortest wait between Smash games ever, clocking in at <4 years.

I’d be reallty surprised if it wasn’t a Smash 4 port.

 

I hope it’s not a port. If it is, it better have a good amount of new stuff

 

I wonder, if they add new game modes and change the game with as much difference as there were between Wii U and 3DS, would it still be considered a port?

 

I’m not sure. I think they could keep the same engine, add new characters, update old ones and have a good amount of new stages and it could be it’s own game

 

while im very happy about smash i am a little sad that this kills any hope i had for pokemon coming this year. oh well, i'd rather gamefreak take their time with it.

also where the fuck is hollow knight!?

edit: also im under the impression that this is technically smash 5, not a port of 4. new characters? link in his botw getup? on a new gen system? 4 years after the previous game? it's gotta be a new game.

 

Oh, that’s exactly what I hope they will be going for. I’m not competitive enough to see the nuances in the gameplay so I’m all in for new game modes and QoL stuff

 

I think it's too soon for a Switch Pokemon, or at least a revolutionary one. 2018 would have meant the game had stayed too close to Sun and Moon instead of making a strong jump to consoles.

 

Honestly it has to be a new game right? They couldn't do like an end of presentation cliffhanger tease and then have it be a game everybody has already purchased before.

also @StepsInADance I am just as antsy for Hollow Knight, I fully expected it to be out this month for some reason

 

I assumed it was a brand new smash based solely on link having the BOTW outfit on. It could easily just be a costume but who knows

Been out of the Nintendo loop for a bit but I just checked their twitter after the direct... Immediately went to check my bank account.

 

very excited for Little Nightmares. I wanted to pick it up, glad I waited for a Switch release. also didn't know Captain Toad was a port haha or that he was even a thing before Odyssey...

 

oh definitely. i just thought 2018 because the announcement at e3 last year sort of implied that they were aiming to have it out by the end of this year. but yeah im fine with them taking their time, i like their 3ds games to the extent to which i am pokemon stan and ill throw money at anything main series related, but the games have felt kind of rushed.

 

I am so jazzed to finally play Captain Toad, somehow I never went for it on Wii U and I'm glad I waited!

 

i hope you're right. it being an indie game thats already been out for some time does mean that the release date reveal and the actual release dont have to be too far apart. been dying to play it.

 

If they are using a March Direct to tease something as big as Smash Bros., I can only imagine what the E3 Direct will have.

 

Captain Toad is such a sick game. Get on it if you missed it.

Also Crash is a 10 but I've almost finished everything on the PS4 version so doubt I'll dip back in again.
