When it came out I got like a $7 screen protector to put on it and have had 0 issues. I primarily played in handheld until about a month ago when I finally introduced my 3 year old to video games. He takes it in and out of the dock all day and I’ve still had 0 issues. So id definitely recommend a screen protector.

The pro controller isn’t a must but it’s absolutely amazing. It’s so comfortable. If you plan on playing primarily docked I’d recommend it.

I’ve played with a pro controller a friend had, arguably one of the most comfortable controllers I’ve ever held.

Those seem to have either been idiots or people with faulty docks (a problem which has been solved)

    1) I got a screen protector for it, so can't say

    2) Space is limited, so probably should get at least a 128 GB SD card to go with it which hopefully should at least give you room for a few years worth of games

    3) Carrying case is useful. I got this one and have had no problems with it: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0711K97BS/?tag=absolutepunk-20

    4) Celeste. Mario and Rabbids. Golf Story. Mario Kart.

Also a bunch of good indie titles like Stardew Valley and Axiom Verge that are worth getting if you haven't already gotten them on another device. Plus Owlboy launches on Tuesday which should be pretty good, and Hollow Knight should be coming out fairly soon too.

    Just a friendly reminder

    1. I haven't scratched mine but I also have a screen protector. Maybe get one just in case? Good for smudges too.

    2. My pro controller had battery issues but I swapped it for a good one no sweat. My launch Joycons have the left joycon issue. Being able to play everywhere means little gets done.

    3. I know I had Pro Controller issues initially, but it is a very isolated incident for what is a seriously great controller. Being able to play with two full controllers for multiplayer is a big deal.

    4. Definitely look into the indies. Games like Steamworld Dig 2, Golf Story, Celeste (though I haven't played), Stardew Valley, and Night in the Woods are perfect for the type of gameplay the Switch encourages. And Splatoon 2 of course, and the upcoming Bayonetta 1+2 re-release if you haven't played them before and want some near-perfect action games. Tbh, any Wii U re-release is a good buy if you missed out before and they interest you.

  8. Thinking about picking up Splatoon based on hearing good things but I really don’t know much about it. It would be fun to have a good two player game my girlfriend and I could play besides Mario Kart though, haha. But from what I’ve seen it’s a 1 player game only but with online capabilities... is that right?

Online multiplayer but no local split screen. Still, it's a must have

I’ve also found that, even with no local multiplayer, Splatoon is a great game to play with others in the room because the 3 minute rounds make it very easy to switch players constantly.

Especially with the update allowing you to easily change your load-out in between matches. My roommate and I have very different play styles.

So my lady is giving birth on the 28th (hopefully my son doesn't come sooner) and she told me I need to bring the Switch with me. My question is what travel cases are good that can fit everything (pro controller, dock, console, games, etc...)?

I have the Hori case that is officially licensed by Nintendo:

I haven't tried other cases, but it serves the purpose just fine for me.

  17. I bought Shovel Knight four the third time (once on the Wii U and on the DS) and I just remembered how much I love this game. It’s so good.

so me and my roommate are still going on our quest to finish every game on the snes classic (minus some of the rpgs) and we're doing secret of mana and i gotta say that game is kind of lame and is full of bullshit (the tiger boss is dumb). we're gonna move on to the next game while we continue to play secret of mana since it's pretty long, and the next game is starfox which looks awful, starfox 64 is his favorite game of all time but even he's not too confident in this one.

  20. I played through Secret of Mana with a friend back when it was first re-released on the Wii Virtual Console. We enjoyed it, but it took us like 2-3 years to finish it. Granted, we didn't get together that often, so we sometimes wouldn't play for months at a time, but it seemed like the game that would never end.
