if it goes any higher than $250 I don't think that will be a good look

It depends on the power of the thing. If those earlier rumors were true, it shouldn't be any more than $250. If its stronger, like on par with Xbox One or a little less, than I could see it going up to $300. Any more than that would be absurd though, considering that price drops have already happened for PS4 and Xbox One, which will 99.9% chance be running better hardware.

But yeah, I expect $250 as well. The severe undercutting of the competition coupled with novel concept and casual accessibility served them well with the Wii, it should do so again.

If that is the price, it is hilarious that they are still trying to sell the Wii U at 300 dollars.

Think they'll announce a Wii U price cut during or after the announcement?

Hasn't there only been one price cut the whole time, when they got rid of the Basic and made the Deluxe 300 dollars? It is ludicrous that you could buy a PS4 for fifty dollars cheaper during the holiday. If they want to get rid of the rest of them, they need to drop the price eventually.

I don't even remember how much I paid for mine or honestly what they even go for now.

So so so so so excited from Thursday's announcement. Ready to blow a good load of cash on a pre-order if they become available afterward. System, Pro Controller and a couple games for sure.

yeah might call up Gamestop and see how they're handling pre-orders then head over Friday before work and try to lock one down

Also, I don't care for the comparisons to the XBox One/PS4 because to me, at least for the last ten years or so, Nintendo systems have always been the "additional" system. I feel like not many hardcore gamers are buying a Switch in hopes to it being their only console to play all the AAA games on. The best way to market this thing is as a system you own in addition to your primary console. It's more of a novelty and it'll be mainly used to play Nintendo games - new and old. And for that, I can't wait.

My fear in pre-ordering from a retailer is that they obviously won't get in enough systems to fulfill every pre-order and they won't have any sort of list based on when you pre-ordered. It'll be first come first serve on release day and I am not about to go wait in a line overnight to get one. I want to pre-order mine online, most likely through Amazon, and just have them send it to me once it's available. Even if it's not on release day.

oh true, I figured I'd ask about the stock situation because yeah, I'm not camping out. Maybe I'll hold out for the Walmart pre-order like with PS4, they didn't sell more than they had available.

Would Amazon possibly do preorders? I feel like they would be my go-to for it since there aren't really any gamestops in my area

exactly. this 100%. if you look at the wii u in that light, i feel it was a great system. sucks they were sorta forced to give up on it, but man some of my favorite games are on that console.

Yep, Nintendo systems have, for a few generations now, been supplemental systems for me. The Wii U wasn't the most powerful thing in the world but Nintendo's first party titles looked GORGEOUS. It'd be nice if there were some good third party games but I won't get my hopes up and it's not what I'm buying that thing for. If I get my Zelda and Mario (among others), I'm satisfied.

Exactly. Nintendo games are like Rockstar games for me. When I buy them, I don't trade them in when I beat them - I keep them and keep replaying them. They're special. If I get a few new Mario, Mario Kart, Smash Bros., Zelda and Pokemon games - along with an optional digital back-catalogue like the Virtual Console gives you except with possible GameCube games - I'm more than happy with that. I don't need Destiny or Red Dead or Battlefield or anything like that on the Switch because that's not what I'm buying it for.

One thing I enjoy about Nintendo games is their focus on local multiplayer. I love that there are games my rl friends can just pick up and play.

A few times late last year when I introduce Mario World 3D and Kart, they would always tell me how they were craving to play more when they got home. Haha. Such a good feeling.

Mario baseball for the GameCube was the GOAT local multiplayer game.

Yeah I was never able to convince any of my friends to pick up a Wii U verbally, but when I'd have them over to play Smash or MK8 we'd always have such a great time.

Smash Switch(if that would be a thing) would be great for casual play. I'm trying to imagine if it's possible for the joycon controller to accomodate 2 players. But it might be missing one button if they use 2 buttons for jump

Hanging for the event. Watching it from Australia so time difference isn't bad at all, just means I'll have to stream it while at work.

I see all consoles as just one part of my gaming equipment. I play/own more games for my Wii U than I do my Xbone.

I can't watch it because I have work the day after. This is the first time this has happened to me and I am distraught.

Yeah it sucks, I have the same thing with Sony at E3 ever year too. I need to be up for work at 5.30am that day anyways so I'm just going to go to bed earlier and get up at 3am (well attempt to anyways).
