Yep, though they're not talking about it yet. I'm not getting excited until we see what it's like - could be almost entirely useless like Galaxy or awesome like 3DW (I expect it to fall somewhere in the middle)

I wish Pokemon Switch gets a redesign for Switch. I can't speak for others obviously but the series has become stale for me, even the competitive side of it.

Besides, trying to balance over 700+ monsters with their own growths, movesets only gets harder the more it goes on. A lot of people are going to hate not heing able to get a pikachu or gengar - and it's definitely why it won't happen.

 

My kids love Good-Feel's games. Though to be honest I played the shit out of Wario Land Shake it and Kirbys Epic Yarn before I had any rugrats.
Platformers are the main reason why I buy Nintendo consoles, and I'm super stoked for the new Kirby and Yoshi games.
I guess difficulty just isn't a major factor when it comes to my enjoyment of games. I can enjoy something like Yoshi's Woolly world just as much as Tropical Freeze or Super Meat boy.

 

Post-Yoshi's Island Yoshi games have never really done it for me though I do LOVE the look of Yarn Yoshi and this new one. Kirby though, that's my jam. Kirby's Dream Land for GB was one of my favorite games as a kid and I just adore the little pink puff.

 

Kirby games may not be the most challenging necessarily but they definitely scratch my 'indestructible all-consuming pink blob god sim' itch.

 

I think this Monster Hunter move might just backfire for Capcom. MonHun is not Resident Evil.

Some people I know IRL who are fans doesn't think it would be a big deal so it's either they're seeing something I can't or it's the opposite.

 

It's definitely dumb to abandon the existing fanbase to go after the console audience but, at least anecdotally, the friends I played Monster Hunter with are all pretty excited for MHW and I'm definitely gonna pick it up as well.

 

It will work with a lot of MonHun fans in the West. The problem is, most fans of that series are in Japan and they like handhelds. So World would have to being them enough growth in the West to cancel out Japan and I don't see that happening. But we'll see.

 

As much as I hate it, I'm probably skipping MHW - just doesn't fit my lifestyle at all.

I play with my SO a lot and a few friends, and I loved having options. When everyone's busy we can play at home online, but I enjoy it more when we actually meet up and play locally. And I'm regularly not at home and most of my time playing MH was spent during long rides home, or waiting for someone somewhere. And I just won't be able to commit that amount of time if I can't take it on the go.

 

The short term plan was to give Japan MHXX right?

We'll see what happens.

 

They released MH games on both handhelds and portables for a long time before moving pretty much solely to 3DS, could do it again. Keep numbered entries on Switch, World and sequels to world on everything else.

 

I think it's harder to transition this time because the concept of being able to play it on the go has already been introduced, and for a number of years has become the definitive way to play the game, and going back from that will be tough for some players.

No doubt it will attract some new fans though, and will keep a lot of the current ones. So it's definitely more of a gut feeling for me than anything.

 

All of this. I live with my girlfriend and another roommate who is a mutual friend, and holy hell did we have a lot of fun doing local hunts in 4U and Gen. It would be three of us chilling in the living room with beers and Adventure Time on the TV or something. I don't want that to change to three separare rooms on three separate TVs.

 

It's almost as if Capcom often makes weird decisions that don't work out for them
