That's what I guess is happening. It also makes sense given Nintendo's overall release schedule. Pokemon will give them a crazy push in Switch's second holiday season.

I fear that they may even go as for as to do Diamond/Pearl remakes on 3DS next year. Doubtful but far from impossible.

Even if it's not this year, I do think that whatever the first Switch Pokemon is will also be on 3DS.

They have been sticking to their "no third game" statement so far (no Grey, no Z, no Stars), so my guess is they are sticking to their "no remakes of games after the GBA" statement too, since the 3DS is backwards compatible. I would not rule out some remakes on future systems (including the Switch) though, but not to start with. Remakes are here to use engines again (like ORAS did).

Ah, I had never heard that one. That is reassuring. The 3DS simply doesn't offer a large enough improvement in presentation over the DS to justify the jump for those games imo.

Gosh dang it I'm still so salty we didn't see a Sun/Moon Switch announcement today Screen Shot 2017-06-05 at 12.44.35 PM.png

Maybe, but this announcement makes that more unlikely I think

I'd be disappointed if the Switch Pokemon game could be done on 3DS. I don't think it's unlikely though.

That would be fine with me, I think Black/White 2 were the best looking Pokemon games. I have no nees for "Pokemon Skyrim" (and I doubt that'd be good for GameFreak's financials) and I prefer pixel art over the art style they used on 3DS.

Yeah, I expect a graphical overhaul on Switch, but I don't expect the semi-linear worldbuilding style of regions to change ever. I'm okay with that.

real talk when everyone always talked about their favorite GameCube games I'm always scared to show what mine are. These be my top three faves because I'm shameless:

I still play yugioh and def jam to this day.

I preferred the pixel art too but I don't expect them to go back to that. If they're going 3D I'd rather they do it properly on Switch and give us camera control and stuff. I wouldn't want Pokemon Skyrim either, ha. I think they could do some really cool stuff though.

if gamefreak does do a main pokemon game for switch itll either be kanto remakes or 8th gen, pretty sure they would wanna do something big if theyre actually making the move to home console. if dp remakes do come out soon (though i think theyll be part of gen 8) itll be for 3ds

I liked X more than I like Moon, ha. Honestly Moon is probably my least favourite Pokémon game I've played despite really liking the new Pokemon, I just don't feel very excited by the island challenges. I still haven't finished it though so maybe I'll change my mind whenever I do.

Moon is probably my favorite for the sole fact that it took care of several small, annoying aspects from the previous games (especially the new battle interface). I also really enjoyed the change of pace of island challenges rather than another go around of "go beat these gym leaders".

I think they oversimplified a lot of stuff to the point where they actively neglected "competitive Pokemon players" including me, which is especillay weird after they did a lot of good stuff for those players in XY. Also, I think the trials are bad. Bad "missions" and bad boss fights. Gyms on the other hand offered some of the better combat the series has known. HOWEVER, a lot of people and a lot of news fans seem to like what they did, so fuck me I guess.

I really enjoyed playing Moon and it's up there with my favorite Pokémon games but unless they give these new games a feature to skip cut scenes then I won't play again

Seriously, fuck the 30 minute cut seen after you beat the elite 4

I loved loved loved the trials. I wouldn't be opposed to gyms returning, but I'm very appreciative that after 20 years they finally shook up the formula, even if just that little bit. It doesn't make sense to me for every region to have 8 gyms despite different cultures, and the trials really helped bring a lot of those areas to life imo.

This is all coming from a filthy casual, tho. Never played a round of competitive Pokemon in my life. I pick the ones that look cool and the moves that do the most damage.

The cut scenes bother me in that game because I'm so uninterested in everything that's happening.

ive never really bothered with competitive in the actual games, my only forays into competitive battling have been through showdown. for me the games have always been more about the new mons, the region, overall atmosphere, characters, etc... which is why i liked the trials, seemed like a nice change of pace and fit well with the overall feeling of the region which is more wilderness based and the trials have you interacting with that wilderness.

in regards to the cutscenes i didnt mind them because i thought the plot was fairly interesting for a pokemon game and was a big fan of lillie's arc (though her saying she's not a trainer gets old), im sure they would hinder my enjoyment where i to do another run of the game though.

also melemele island is kind of a drag
