Well, oh well.

 

Meh to all three. I'll be skipping Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon, first time I've ever skipped a Pokemon. Girlfriend will be hyped for Pokken DX though, that's the only thing she misses about the Wii U.

 

How does one company continue to shoot itself in the foot so often?

 

can't say i'm surprised. pokken is a lot of fun so i'm definitely picking that up. here's hoping VC plans for switch are announced at E3.

 

Bad reveal was bad

 

I don't think they "shot themselves in the foot". They are still having legitimate issues meeting demand for Switch consoles, so they're putting a lazy sequel in the same engine on the console with a massive install base. If Pokemon Switch doesn't come next year, then they are crazy. This is par for the course, really.

 

I got through the story part of Pokken, but it was a chore. No reason to play it again.

E3 Direct will be a half hour long.

 

That's more than enough to get a lot of info if they use the same rapid slide style as the ARMS/Spla2n Direct. I imagine we get 5-10 mins of Mario before they just say "see more on Treehouse", a minute on Rabbids, a couple on Splatoon. Who knows with the rest.

This makes sense and is what can be expected from GameFreak (GameFreak isn't Nintendo after all).

Ultra Sun/Moon is a smart move and one they have made before. They also made Black/White 2 for DS even though the 3DS was out, and it was very successful (and I imagine rather cheap to make). This is the same thing. The 3DS can still make them a lot of money and it is still selling pretty damn well.

A proper Pokemon for Switch in 2018 makes sense given that we already have Zelda, Mario and Monster Hunter this year. Mario is the big game for this fall, Pokemon for next year.

Pokken port makes sense of course, it was a late WiiU game and is quite a popular game.

Blue/Red/Yellow on Virtual Console made them a lot of money, so keeping that going makes sense too.

Do I want a Switch Pokemon right now? Yes. But this still makes sense to me.

 

It's to be expected probably but the core difference is that the 3DS was backwards compatible with the DS so you could still play the new Pokemon on your new system. The lack of Swich backwards compat is the reason why I thought it'd be cross platform.

Hey man, Black/White 2 are maybe the best Pokemon games, no reason to assume it will be "lazy"

 

I'm hoping this means when we do get a Pokemon for Switch it'll be a proper Switch game and not just a Sun/Moon port.

Also a half hour E3 direct is super disappointing.

 

This one is described as an "alternate story" as opposed to a sequel, and the legendary fusion has already been done before. It may be good, but for the first time ever I need to be convinced to buy the new Pokemon.

 

Black/White shared locations too though, but I get what you mean. They haven't made a bad Pokemon game though, so I doubt they'll start now.
