Have you played the last gen NBA Jam games? Does it feel similar?

 

It's been a while, but it feels pretty similar to me. It definitely scratches that itch, at least. One thing I really love are the different power-ups you can activate during a game.

 

Damn it I'm so torn. I don't care about online though so I should probably get it now so I get that extra game

 

Yeah I just watched the trailer for the Shaq Fu reboot and it actually looks like a fun little 3D beat-'em-up

I've never played it on my tv but to me everything looks fine. The players aren't like ultra HD but it's good to me.

 

Aaand I fucking hate it lmao

 

But hey, Shaq fu...

 

Plus, I'm sure the update will be good. So whatever money you spent now for NBA would've been money spent for NBA anyway.

 

I'm gonna ask Nintendo for a refund, in Europe it occasionally works. Otherwise I'll hate play it and become the best.

So the 20 dollars cost is pretty great but my biggest issue is that I'm going to be stuck having to be connected to the internet to play the classic games. This isn't what I want. I want to be able to play super mario 3 in a car on a road trip, play mega man in my office at work during a break, etc.

News has me pretty upset to be honest.

 

Maybe you have read somethin I haven't, but my guess is you'll download them.

Also, I'm pretty sure you will also be able to buy them.

what the fuck there's a 3 player v CPU boss multiplayer mode

I was finally able to play some ARMS this morning and promptly got my ass kicked most of the time. The motion controls are gonna take some getting used to. I had a hard time moving around with them so I'm gonna try a pro controller next chance I get.

 

Pro Controller is where it's at.

I think after last night's test I've settled on Ribbon Girl as my favorite.

 

Ok pro controller + Mechanica is my jam.

 

What's different with pro controller?

I used control sticks in a few matches and felt it didn't provide me with the level of freedom I wanted.

But also still at the learning curve for motion controls. Can't wait to grab it. I feel like I still need to spend more time in single player mode.

 

I just was not precise at all when using motion controls. I'm sure it takes practice, but I'm too impatient. I had a hard time moving with them and would almost always throw both arms when trying to punch.

I feel a lot more in control when using the pro controller and punching with the triggers. Especially when it comes to jumping and dashing. Only thing I haven't fully nailed is curving my punches with it. Blocking is a bit of a pain, too.

 

After spending most of my time with traditional controls last weekend I tried motion controls out again for most of the time I played this weekend. I got more used to the motion than I did before but I still definitely prefer the game without them.

 

NBA Playgrounds is starting to grow on me. I do hope they fix the resolution as promised. Also, alley-oops are fucking broken. The AI player almost never goes where he has to go, and if he does do it it takes forever which makes it a useless tactic. I do not understand how they fucked this up this heavily when they have a perfect example in NBA Jam's alley-oop system.

So yeah, it's no NBA Jam (but then again what is?), but I'll probably keep playing, even if Nintendo offers me a refund.
