I found these images on GAF. Though they apparently originated on 4chan, and now I'm watching the "leak" spread across twitter.

Yeah I agree. The Paper Mario stage is to be applauded if this is a fake, looks great.

 

Yep. Paper Mario stage is the thing here that pushes me to think it could be real - the rest could pass as upscaled 3DS shots but that seems significantly more detailed than the 3DS stage.

 

Just saw someone on GAF point out that the screens use the Japanese player indications (1P for Japan vs P1 for the west) but Bowser Jr is called Bowser Jr in the screens instead of his Japanese name, Koopa Jr.

Maybe it's a multi-language release now that region locking isn't a thing? Like, maybe it's a Japanese copy set to English, so the player indicators are different and it says Bowser Jr. That's a stretchy stretch, but I'm hoping.

The Smash port is going to happen, don't worry. It's such an obvious move by Nintendo - get a big franchise out quickly, make it an easy sell by combining the content of both the 3DS and Wii U versions, the TONS of DLC they ended up releasing and maybe a new stage or character or two.

Also I feel like they won't announce Smash before the ARMS release, but I think Smash4Switch is too good to pass up on. And then as usual a Smash controller announcement follows

 

If DLC characters I'm going with:
Shovel Knight
Springman
Ribbon Girl
Inkling

and then there'll be like 100 new Fire Emblem characters

 

Replace one of Springman/Ribbon Girl with Ice Climbers and I think that's a fair guess for what new characters would look like.

 

If its announced at E3, I'd guess it comes in the Spring. Coming in the fall may hinder ARMS sales.
