Right before Wonder came out i pushed through and played through SMB 1 & 3, World, and Yoshi's Island. I didn't finish 2 because it just doesn't feel really feel like a Mario game to me, couldn't get into it.

I think it's definitely top ten Wii U game considering there's only 15 Wii U games but now with 7 years of the Switch under our belts and the massive amounts of games I don't think I could even put it on my top twenty

I think the comfiest game I’ve played on switch is AC:NH. Link’s Awakening remake would be #2

Oh, comfiest game on Switch? That's an interesting question. Does it have to be Nintendo made?

I was thinking the other day how Stardew Valley helped launch a thousand indie cozy twee imitators, but if you've played Stardew long enough you know there is a subtle underlying darkness and almost David Lynch-esque weirdness in that game that gradually comes out that nobody has been able to really imitate.

Nearly every Stardew townsperson NPC has insane levels of depth

What other cozy farming Sim lets you help the mayor cover up a sex scandal or help the alcoholic bus driver with housing or help a war vet cope with PTSD or discover that the shopkeeper's wife had an affair with a wizard?

Those are the exact reasons I don't like that game actually

Well you're in luck then there are about a thousand souless one dimensional Stardew knockoffs that leave out all the personality and complexity that made that game unique and interesting out there you can play.

Making good enough friends with townspeople to learn the darkest parts of their soul is half the fun of that game lol

Also in background of all that there is a thousand year war people dwarves and shadow people. You can actually make a shadow person your roommate it's tight.

I mean, Stardew is just a Harvest Moon knock off. Everything is a copy or recreation of something else.

Also just because it does have the "darkest parts of their soul" doesn't mean it doesn't have complexity or personality.

I just want a true cozy game is a world where I am escaping from reality. I already deal with alcoholism and infidelity in real life, I don't personally want to deal with it when I'm trying to farm.

That's not saying Stardew is bad, I'm saying that's why it's absolutely not for me.

There are tons of other games in that genre that are fun and charming that don't have that kind realistic/more adult themes.

    Ones I enjoy:

    Littlewood
    Rune Factory 4 Special
    My Time at Portia
    Slime Rancher

Sorry for the triple post, but something I did really like about Stardew was the whole mining/dungeon thing. I love when games have another element to the gameplay besides just the farming. That's part of the reason why I like the Rune Factory series so much.

I like the part on the dungeons where if you reach level 100 a mysterious man named Mr. Qi is waiting for you and he makes you drink magical snake milk that gives you a huge permanent hp buff

I’m gonna play Stardew one of these days. I’ve owned it on steam for like 6 years at this point

On the final world on Crafted World. This game is great. Probably best Yoshi game since Yoshi's Island. Wonder why kinda went under the radar when it was released. Was it the long delay?

I like that after the post-game credits of some Nintendo games they end with a big banner that says "Thank you for playing this game!"

It's like aw you're welcome. That's so sweet.

Alright Peach and Yoshi down. Next one I am crossing off my list is Origami King.

I still haven't finished Paper Mario 64, but I figured I'll just do this one now. These games are fun, but one thing I don't like is the near constant start/stop/start/stop. Stop stopping the game for a mandatory exposition dialogue box session every 2 minutes and just let me play.

    Update:

This game is very pretty and charming. But this battle system...Jesus christ. These wonky ass controls trying to switch between horizontal and vertical lineups has gotten me killed a few times already.

Anyone’s switch ever overheat? Yesterday my son kept getting a message that it would need to cool down and then it would turn off

It can happen. Is it an older model and is your house dusty? Spray some compressed air into the air vents that should clear out the thermal blockage enough.

of you can always disassemble if you’re feeling confident
