When I'm having horrible races I just turtle and collect coins then fish for Bullet Bill at laps 2 and 3. Easy way to go 6th-8th

It's not ethical but nothing in Mario Kart is.

 

Overcooked looks hilarious. It has an arctic, volcanic and outer space areas.

 

My buddy just got a Switch and we've been playing Zelda and Mario Kart. I really want one now... fack

 

The thing that's annoying me most about the Switch atm is that there's loads of cool looking games that are getting released or ported to it but no release dates. That Owlboy looks cool but no relase date, Hollow Knight is prob my most anticipated atm (other than Mario) but again no relase date. Just look at this list of games and sort it by release date, there's so many there:

I guess that's just because it's such a new console and a lot of the smaller developers didn't get dev kits that early, still it's a pain not knowing when these awesome games we keep seeing teasers for are coming out.

I downloaded the Disgaea demo and I really didn't like it. Really bummed, it seemed like something I would really like, but the gameplay just wasn't doing it for me, not to mention the godawful voice acting

That's weird given that the narrative was that people can't find them

 

Played a little bit of Fire Emblem Echoes and my impressions are pretty positive. I've honestly never loved the gradual change to anime up the story and art FE in Awakening/Fates (even though the gameplay in Awakening/non-Birthright Fates is still great) so the return to a more classic style of Fire Emblem story/characters/art (which, as a remake of a "classic" FE, duh) is a huge plus for me. I'm already pretty into the story and cast and have really enjoyed the interactions between the characters so far. The changes to the class system, removal of the weapon trinity/rock-paper-scissors aspect has been cool so far but the maps are simple and nothing special. The little roaming dungeons are a neat addition - the second of the two dungeons I've done before had some little alternate paths and stuff, it's a nice change of pace. Being able to find hidden objects in towns/special rooms and talking to people in those static town screens doesn't add a whole lot but it does make the game feel like something different than the previous few. Very happy with the game so far, can't wait to continue with it this weekend.

 

@WhitestKidUKnow Yeah, the characters didn't resonate with me as much as I did with Laharl and Etna in Disgaea 1, but the gameplay is crazier than ever. I'm not sure if you've played the series before (if you have then ignore this completely) so I hope I'm not being preachy, but the demo didn't reveal the item world (wherein you can go inside items to make them more powerful) and the senate (where you can pass bills and bribe senators and/or beat them up to change their minds). And then there's still stuff like evility, mentoring, in-game cheats, monsters turning into weapons, tower attacks, throwing an enemy to another enemy to combine their levels, and a hell of a lot more. It's like Monster Hunter for people who really love grid-based strategy RPGs - it's grindy and the replay value is insane. So definitely not for everyone. I played the demo and had tons of fun. Also feel a bit nostalgic, because I love games where you name your characters and build them up and then form a party with them, like Icewind Dale, Baldur's Gate, Temple of Elemental Evil, Neverwinter Nights, and all those Forgotten Realms stuff haha. Well, could also pile it with the new Shadowrun, XCOM and Pillars of Eternity.

@tucah Might be the first FE I'm skipping since Shadow Dragon on DS. I mean I'm stoked for the new (well, new old) mechanics and I'm not doubting it's a good game but not really in an FE mood lately.

 

Ohh yeah I haven't played any of the previous games and had no idea of all of those other features! But yeah I pretty much played the first battle and stopped after that. I should pick it back up though because I usually do like those kinds of games, but obviously it's way way deeper than I realized haha. I feel like that would be an awesome game to be able to play on the go

 

I would give it another shot. Don't know where the demo starts but the gameplay gets pretty deep and yeah, there are a TON of really neat, really unique systems. It might seem like just a very simple SRPG at the start but they gradually pile on stuff to make it very, very unique - custom characters, customizing and leveling up equipment and items, even changing the rules of the game itself. Give it another shot! As for the bad voice acting, not sure about the demo but the full game has the option to use Japanese voices, if that's more to your liking.

 

@WhitestKidUKnow definitely is. I couldn't stand playing Disgaea on a console, the second one was released on PSP and played the shit out of that. Story doesn't get better though. Probably a few chuckles here and there (more when drunk) but that's about it.

Also, anyone playing Kart right now? Jumped on to a friend's game.

my cousin brought his switch and I'm so hyped for the Mario Kart session tonight

 

this is perfect for the Switch can't wait for this. action dungeon crawling Diablo style is my weakness.

 

This is beautiful! So worth the wait.

 

How's the artbook? (Is there an artbook?)

 

The indie development love for the Switch makes me so happy. This, Hollow Knight and Stardew Valley are probably my most anticipated for the rest of the year.

so i dont understand why in fe echoes it tells me im gonna deal 10 damage but i instead deal 7

edit: nvm just realized its only the atk stat, kind of looks like the window that regularly says how much damage ill do

 

There is, and it's cool, but nothing to write home about. Hardbound though, which I didn't expect. They did a wonderful job with this limited edition.

 

Excited to sit down now and play FE.
