Yeah definitely. I feel like they'll pull bits from certain games though, like I'd be surprised if there's not something about the temple of time/sages

Yeah they can throw in stuff like that or maybe even mention stuff from the games (if it will follow the timeline of the games), they just have to be careful not to overstuff it. Fitting a story about a farmer boy that has to accept his destiny to fight off a demon king to save Hyrule with the aid of a princess will already be tough to fit into 2 hours without feeling rushed.

Shit, he's trying to disrupt their economy? That's low, even for Ganondorf.

"Bwa ha ha! I've lowered the value of the rupee by 20%! Suffer in your poverty, Hyrule!"

I feel like Zelda would work better as an anthology series like season 1 of The Witcher.

Alternatively, here's my bad fanfic take on what they should do: let the entire first movie in OoT Kokiri Forest. Establish Link as a slightly timid but dutiful member of the community and explore his rivalry with Mido and friendship with Saria. Drop in hints at his destiny via cryptic conversations with the Great Deku Tree (or even as cutaway conversations between the Deku Tree and Navi).

Eventually, Link and Mido are so wrapped up in their rivalry that they end up competing to find the Kokiri's long-lost sword and shield in the Lost Woods in the dead of night. Meanwhile, because Mido and Link have left the Deku Tree unprotected Gohma and her minions sneak into the forest and infest the Deku Tree. After Mido beats Link to finding the sword and shield, Saria rushes to tell them what happened. They all head back to the Deku Tree and gradually work their way through some traps and puzzles, which Link and Saria excel at while Mido fumbles through defending them from monsters.

Finally, they reach Gohma's chamber. The team works together to put the hurt on Gohma, but just as they think they're about to prevail, Mido gets knocked out and the sword and shield clatter across the floor. Saria uses a combination of Deku Seeds and her slingshot to distract Gohma while Link grabs the sword and shield. Saria fires one final Deku Seed into Gohma's eye, stunning her long enough for Link to leap into the air, bringing his sword down into Gohma's eye to defeat the beast once and for all.

Everyone makes their way out of the Deku Tree and he asks Link to speak in private. He explains that Link isn't really a Kokiri and that he's destined for more. Sword and shield in hand, he makes his way out of the forest, with Saria handing him his first ocarina on his way out.

As he exits, the vast, lush view of Hyrule Field opens up before him a la the box art for BotW. As the scene fades away, a dark shadow of Ganondorf's face is revealed and a mocking laugh echoes as the screen cuts to black.

    Yo that would be incredible.

I think Zelda should be a high budget anime movie, but I understand why they’ve made the choice they made, Nintendo has not entered the movie business to make relatively niche movies

I think the smart move would be to go ahead and have this live action film, followed by an animated Zelda with Toon Link.

They should just do a animated series of Spirit Tracks

If Link doesn’t walk into random houses and smash pots and abuse chickens what’s even the point?

Don't worry. When Nintendo decides to please the 5% of zelda fans that played spirit tracks they will make an animated movie on it.

I've never played it, but I would if they ported it to switch

I've played it. I enjoyed it too, but it would not be my first choice for an adaptation.
