Detective Pikachu has a subplot about divorce which seems out of place in this kid's game. Also the politics of this game weirdly mirror the gun control debate in the US.

There is a point where a character literally says "The mayor is trying to control Pokemon! Pokemon aren't dangerous, the humans who train them are!" lol

I also need to finish Skyward Sword too. That wasn't so much that I got stuck, moreso that I just got frustrated by the gimmicky control mechanics.

I just finished the first dungeon, which is as far as I've ever gotten. Can't wait to play more

Without knowing how the subject is treated, I think I'm of the opinion that it's correct to not treat children like idiots and not shy away from difficult material.

I just remember as a kid my favorite cartoons like Batman, X-Men, and Gargoyles, didn't shy away from hard topics, and while it did get them in hot water at some points (the infamous Gargoyles gun control episode), I think it was important that they tried.

    Absolutely this.

Watch the early seasons of Boy Meets World. Some great examples of just this.

Also Detective Pikachu on 3DS (which should have been ported) had stuff like that. It's a "real world" version of Pokemon but still geared towards kids.

BotW impressed me more because it was so new (which TotK then couldn’t be as much), but I feel like it would not be ideal to go back to after TotK if that makes sense

I am just trying to check the main quest off my list, and then I will dig in and finish all the completionist stuff when I have time off work or something.

That’s what I should do if I ever want to finish, I played so much of it but only did one dungeon

Yeah I got distracted trying to explore all of the Depths, get battery packs, finish my house, and complete the armor sets I wanted. I forgot to actually do the main part lol

Botw is so, so much better than TOTK

Especially the story, even though it still isn't *that* great, but still good for a Zelda story

also a 4 hour tutorial level in the sky when it turns out there are barely any sky islands is excessive, THERE I SAID IT lol

It felt like the sky was supposed to be a much larger part of the game than it ended up being, as if they ran out of time

Nothing will ever match the experience of playing botw for the first time, but both games still gave me that feeling of awe and absolute wonderment that few other games have given me.

BOTW doesn't have Zelda turning into a dragon though.

I did not experience that with either game, but it was much closer to that on TOTK for me.

I had so much fun exploring in Tears feeling rewarded for my time spent, I did not feel that way in BOTW.

I think TOTK has a better story and gameplay mechanics, but I had more fun and a sense of awe exploring in BOTW than TOTK. So I’d put BOTW above TOTK.

It still is a great game, I'm just nitpicking and saying why I prefer the original. But they're definitely both great
