That’s me but played PS2 in the early 2000s

 

I never played it before but it looked so fun in the Direct that I just downloaded the original to my handheld emulator. Seems fun so far!

 

ugh of course Atelier Sophie 2 goes on sale a week after I buy Trails From Zero on sale. Trying to limit my JRPG purchases to one a month lol

Random, objective-as-possible question:

Is Luigi's Mansion 2 THAT much worse than 1?

I ask because people are really bummed the first isn't coming to switch. I've never played either. But I fucking LOVED LM3. I think it's up there with Odyssey and the Zelda games. Would I be disappointed by 2?

 

This is the first time I’ve seen someone say LM2 was worse than 1. I personally never played LM2, but after looking it up real quick, LM2 seems to be scored higher than 1 in most places. So take that as you will. I know LM2 is my one friend’s favorite of the 3 so he’s stoked about the port.

 

Yeah from what I've seen online, people seem to think it's the worst of the three. Good to hear! Maybe I've been spending time in the wrong online circles

 

I loved Luigi’s Mansion 2! You probably will too

 

Every single person I saw online or talked to in person when the game came out said LM2 is the worst in the series and that sentiment has only grown since LM3 came out. I think the first entry is easily the worst and personally, I think 2 is fantastic.

Most people seemed to really hate two things: that it was a handheld only game and that it had stages/different mansions rather than one big mansion in an open world setting. But with LM3 basically being that because each floor is just it's own isolated thing and people ate that up, I don't seem how that matters. I liked that it was separated, it made it feel like each area was special and I could play and perfect each of the stages I actually liked instead of having to do the whole mansion.

I think you will really like it. The multiplayer was a lot of fun as well.

 

I usually see people rank LM2 below 1 and 3, but that it’s still a great game

 

Sick I'm excited to buy it now

The Metroid Prime remaster was only $40. I feel like Nintendo has been pretty fair with their port prices. Or I’m just not remembering the bad instances lol

 

I have only played LM3 and loved it. I cannot imagine this game without the slamming ghosts mechanic though, which I guess the first 2 don't have.

 

I have a Mario hot take to admit: I do not like Super Mario 1-3. I just hate the draggy controls. It wasn't until SMW on SNES (probably my favorite sidescrolling platformer of all time) where it became much tighter and they lost the drag effect.

 

the super Mario advanced series is the best way to play these games imo

 

Those still have that drag effect with the controls though IIRC

 

what do you mean by "drag effect?"

 

The controls specifically the jumping mechanic on Mario 1-3 are very loose and not as tight compared to later Mario 2D platformers. I find playing the first 3 very frustrating compared to say Super Mario World.

 

I don't think I've ever played a better 2D platformer than Super Mario 3

 

I know what you mean those games feel really slippery but they’re still fun

 

Anybody picking up the Baten Kaitos remasters?
