My guess is they did this because it is a "Game Of The Year Edition" or whatever, it's not uncommon

 

I am still unlocking stuff in Mario Kart 8 Wii U. That is kind of disappointing.

 

Yea, fuck Amazon, I'm getting it from Target on my way home work and cancelling the Amazon order.

 

cancelled mine as well and already reserved a copy from Best Buy to get on the way home. they said I was placed in a queue upon ordering and that it was expected to ship next Thursday but even that wasn't guaranteed.

 

They shouldn't sell out of the game at GameStop should they? Hoping to get the game for cheap by trading in FFXV and witcher 3 Haha

 

I pre-ordered mine from Amazon as soon as possible. Mine came today without any issues. Sorry for those that ran into problems

I will say, regarding Amazon, you need to read the descriptions of pre-orders very carefully because sometimes they will be delivered on release and sometimes they won't. This is mentioned at the top of the item description when adding it to the cart. I learned the hard way because I pre-ordered multiple games only to find out that Amazon could only ship them on release and not have them delivered on release. When that happened, I contacted Amazon and the representative told me in those types of situations, it's the publisher of the game who chooses to do that - not Amazon. So make sure to look the Amazon description up and down for a game if you're pre-ordering to make sure it will be delivered on release date.

ALL that being said, MK8 Deluxe was definitely one that was to be delivered on release date (as I said, I got mine at around noon when the mail came) so that sucks for those who missed out.

 

Also I will say, that I bit the bullet and bought a Pro Controller. Only now does it feel like I'm playing an actual console. I highly recommend picking one up if you can spare the $60. It's weird but it just makes me feel like I'm not playing some weird, hybrid (even though it is technically) because I'm a typical couch gamer at heart so the more the gameplay and experience feels traditional, the more it hooks me in. I actually was having a hard time wanting to play Zelda, but as soon as I got the pro controller, all I wanted to do was play it.

 

I preordered when it told me it would be release-date delivery. Never had a problem before.

I get my copy tomorrow, so I'm not too bothered overall. It's being delivered by Amazon and they show up early in the mornings usually (except when I'm doing same-day).

 

I've had issues just ordering a Switch from Amazon and eBay when they've been available. I was able to order one from Amazon yesterday through Prime and its supposed to be here tomorrow, but it hasn't shipped yet. Kinda freaking out, but I work in E-Commerce so I know how it goes. I picked up Mario Kart and a Pro Controller from Best Buy today to go with it, so here's for hoping for the best.

If I have the Wii U version should I even bother with this? Leaning towards no but I want to finally have a second game on this system lol

 

Right? The battle mode is way better than I thought. Haha.

And playing on handheld, the game looks incredible. It's so cool.

 

This is kind of what I'm trying to decide right now. I played a lot of the Wii U version (but kind of fell off and didn't play nearly as much of the DLC courses even though they're excellent) and have never really been that into battle mode, which is the only significant new thing. This game is so gorgeous though, and that handheld seems like a dream....

Online have been hit or miss for me. But the times I've been able to play were pretty good.

I haven't played a MK game in so long. This is so much fun. And I don't know what all was considered "locked" in the old game, but there's definitely unlockables in this game because I keep unlocking additional items. I'm just mentioning that because I thought I saw a post where someone said everything was already unlocked.

 

By "everything" I think they meant all the characters were unlocked haha. Previously you can unlock new characters by winning cups in single player.

And like you mentioned, you still unlock the vehicle parts the same way. Personally I'm glad I don't have to unlock the characters.

The new Battle Mode is worth the purchase alone for Deluxe. Dear god is this fun.
