They tried multiple Kickstarter/crowdfunding campaigns for Eternal Darkness and never hit the goals.

 

Nintendo has it, and renewed the trademark in 2020 after briefly letting it lapse.

Dennis Dyack, shitbrick that he is, tried to get a spiritual successor going through crowdfunding, but both attempts bombed hard.

 

They own the IP but not the game or something like that I think?

EDIT: Apparently they do just own the whole thing. They just aren’t feeling it right now I guess.

 

Eventually all Nintendo IPs except for Mario and Zelda will no longer exist.

It was a nice looking pixel art game and the remake looks like shovelware. I’m sure the gameplay is there, but good God.

 

My son was playing that Starlink game yesterday and I’m like that wasn’t a terrible idea. The little ships are cool. I’m surprised it folded so fast

 

I mean, I'm not a fan on the toy-like aesthetic they went for either, but if it's as good as the orginals or better/more modern, I don't care.
