Game gear was so ahead of it’s time both in quality and power usage

If I can come straight outta left field with something, the Atari Lynx really was INSANE too bad it took even more batteries than the game gear and had no good games

 

It's fun to think about how many games I would've bought if storage wasn't a clinically insane price. Idk what Sony was thinking.

So apparently the Switch Pro is dead/cancelled, and new devkits have not reached devs yet, so we might be looking at a 2025 launch for the Switch successor.

If this is true, that means when it does release, people will have been playing games on a console that was literally developed a decade ago hahaha

 

Reminds me of the NES days.

 

360/PS3 went on forever too

 

The Wii would have too but piracy got in the way

 

I just dismiss any Nintendo console rumors, nobody knows what the fuck they are doing.

That’s probably true but it does seem pretty likely they were going to try for an upgrade and just settled for the oled because of lack of resources around the pandemic. It’s just hard to fathom that they would wait so long.

 

It’s not that hard, because the Switch never lost sales momentum, so if it ain’t broke etc.

 

But it will lol it slowly is dropping. Obviously the holidays will help them temporarily but pre and post, it’s been declining. Anyone who likes Zelda already has one. What great game is going to release that will have someone who doesn’t have a switch decide to get one?

 

Switch still sells incredibly, incredibly well. Especially because of games like Pokemon. They have no reason to spend more money releasing a new product that may or may not sell when they are making the sales they are making now. They also have a new Zelda coming out which is a sequel to one of the highest rated and most beloved games of all time.

It's not a surprise they would wait this long.

 

Well yeah, but the install base is so big and the attach rate is strong, so it can have somewhat of a hardware sales “slump” (very relative, as was said it still sells really well) until the new thing comes out. They wouldn’t have sold as many copies of Splatoon 3 or Pokemon as they did (insane numbers) on a a new device. A half-step would have been different of course, but yeah the pandemic definitely killed those plans.

 

I kinda think the industry is done with half-steps btw. I don’t think it will be a standard. I think the last gen was an anomaly because 4K TVs suddenly exploded. I don’t think there will be a PS5 Pro.

 

I still think 2024 is also possible btw.

 

I don’t think it’ll be a ps5 pro, probably just a nicer version but it’s also different situations. The ps5 is smooth and runs good, it’s totally modern as to where nintendo needs a console that is at least slightly better than their graphics from 2015 lol it doesn’t have to be a pro, it could be like a switch two or something to just hold people off from getting bored for another three years haha

I think it probably won’t happen just because of how awful the wiiu did, sadly.

Just bring the 3ds back lol
