It's very cool in the sense that it looks *exactly* like what someone would expect from a mainline Pokemon game, but it's also disheartening because it's *exactly* what you would expect.

 

Pokemon is Nintendo's Call Of Duty.

 

I would say they put in even less effort which is just... embarrassing at this point.

 

They definitely do not put in less effort than COD lol

if you expect good graphics in pokemon games you're gonna have a bad time.
i'd rather they just go back to 2d stuff personally.

 

New Pokémon Snap had nice graphics for Switch

 

Pokemon games on switch won’t have good graphics no matter how many times you point it out on chorus.fm.

 

I mean, as far as I'm concerned, Pokemon has no excuse when games like Breath of the Wild and Xenoblade Chronicles 2 exist on Switch also. Like, yeah, those games have performance issues, but not at the same level as Arceus and they also don't look ugly graphically (not talking about art style, which I think is good for Arceus).

That said, Arceus was a great game despite its technical issues. But saying things like people are wrong to expect/demand better for Pokemon is simply not accurate.

I’m saying its beyond established that pokemon games are never going to look more polished on switch than they already have been. No matter how many times people bring it up, those games are massive money makers as they are.

The pokemon game after this one is gonna look meh too if it’s on switch.

 

Yeah I’m kinda over how badly they mail in all their games. I liked some of the decisions they made in Arceus, but it looks horrendous. I’ve also never mashed the dialogue button more in a game than that one. Just kept going and going.

 

the problem is we’ll never get BOTW or Xenoblade effort as long as these games come out yearly

They don't develop them in one year only though. But also it wouldn't be a bad thing to not get a new game every year lol

Also, different people are responsible for each franchise. GameFreak rarely makes anything other than Pokémon, so they wouldn't be working on a Xenoblade or Zelda effort anyway.

Yeah, I don't know anybody who plays these games for the plot. The endless cutscenes towards the end of the game were awful.

 

Oh, I misinterpreted. I thought the post was about not getting BOTW2 or other "efforts" because of Pokémon coming out all the time. Not about getting BOTW-level effort.

Never mind me.

 

I would frankly be way more interested in a Pokémon game if it had a good storyline.

 

I think I’d rather cutscenes than just button mashing A.

 

On second thought, I'm gonna tweak my Call Of Duty analogy a bit.

I think Activision pumps out COD every year because it is their cash cow and flagship franchise and they want all the money.

I feel like Nintendo uses Pokémon less in that way and more as the franchise they can pump out and use to plug holes in their lineup while they toil on all the other games.

Same concept but slightly different purpose and execution.

 

Also Game Freak is not good at what they do. Generally.
