There's zero reason that any of the games other than KH2.8 and KH3 should be streaming versions. Square just didn't want to put the work in, plain and simple.

I know Vase already gave the obvious response, but I'm thinking now about people hearing about this game and downloading it solely on word of mouth without knowing anything about what it is and being like "This is it? What's all the fuss about?" and it makes me sad.

I’m in love with Golf Story already. The story and dialogue are lol-funny.

I heard good things and truly thought it was an actual game, well that’s disappointing.

hey come on, visual novels are actual games too...

No, I get that. I just thought there would be more engaging gameplay beyond just reading.

Is Golf Story similar to Stardew but swap farming for golfing?

I actually think that is up for discussion. I think some visuals novels aren't, unless chose your own adventure books are. I'm not saying that as a visual novel diss by the way.

No. It's not a life sim. It's like Earthbound or other similar RPGs but instead of combat there is golf.

Like 999 is a visual novel but it's got a lot of puzzle elements and multiple endings and actual choices you can make.

Visual novels have a wide range and it's hard to determine where they fall sometimes.

It's kind of why they're called visual novels first and games second.

Yeah exactly. Some are most definitely games but in some cases it can be argued I would say.

I agree that some visual novels are literally just the equivalent of turning the page of a book and that's all the interaction you get, so to call that a game is a stretch.

That being said, that does make me wonder where the line is drawn. Something like Her Story or Analogue are just about reading and listening, but I guess the overall mystery at the center is what makes it gamelike.

It's an interesting thing to think about.

13 Sentinels straddles the line quiet elegantly between still being a game.

Golf Story is the best. It is absolutely preposterous Nintendo hasn't revisited Mario Golf & Tennis as RPGs, the two GBC games are among my all time faves.

    That’s just a cost/benefit thing.

That being said, the last Mario Golf went tentatively into that direction.

I loved that game. My only (small) gripe was I wished I had control over the others in my party in battle. They would burn through MP so damn fast lol. Is the second NNK worth playing?

There’s a Digimon mmorpg that came out recently, it looks a lot like Digimon world. I think it’s called Digimon super rumble? It’s only in South Korea for now tho. It’s currently only on pc as well, kind of random.
