There really is no need for them to be larger than a DS game case

When I was a nerdy little kid I would sit and read game booklets for fun

Sometimes there was really fun stuff in there besides just controls

I used to reread the booklet for Melee when I was bored

The booklets would have lore that wasn’t touched on in the game, especially fighting games.

There were definitely some game booklets in the Xbox/PS2/GC era that were legendary. Just so much content put on paper.

I have a similar nostalgia for cheat books and game guides that used to come with magazines. Used to love reading about all the easter eggs in games that I hadn't even played.

Makes me nostalgic for reading EGM and GamePro in high school with my friend. Lol and he actually went on to start 1UP if anybody remembers that website

Back in my childhood I subscribed to EGM, Nintendo Power, GamePro, and GamePlayer's. I was a voracious reader when it came to vidya games.

I looooved strategy guides, they were so fun to read and look at the pictures for me. I think I literally got them for games I didn't even have sometimes

    I was a weird kid

Also I finished Skyward Sword tonight. Not my favorite Zelda but I did really enjoy it overall, it was cool how the worlds kept opening up and taking you to different places. Really nice visuals too

I have now officially finished every main 3D Zelda game

I think it was Final Fantasy VIII where they decided, "You know what's a good idea? Having a strategy guide only have half the info, and point people to a website for the rest."

    Absolute horseshit.

If I wanted that, I'd just keep going to GameFAQs. And I did after that.

It was FF9 and I'm still mad about it. Such a terrible guide for an amazing game.
