Is it really that confusing? This is an honest question. Full disclosure, I myself have not played Minecraft because I too am a goal-oriented player, but I can understand the appeal behind it and I've watched a billion Achievement Hunter Minecraft videos. It doesn't look like the kind of game that's difficult to understand. You collect minerals, you build stuff with said minerals that leads to you collecting more minerals to build more stuff.

None of the systems are explained. It's basically impossible to play without a wiki. I think it's mostly that I don't have time to figure everything out. I play games for maybe an hour every day. I want to get in and out. But I totally understand the appeal if you're a kid with tons of spare time to kill.

I played a lot of Minecraft in high school when it was still in beta, bought it for the Switch, and there's so much shit you can do now that I have no desire to figure out lol. I just like to build stuff in creative mode.

You know, this never actually occurred to me. My only experience of Minecraft was watching Achievement Hunter play, and they already knew what they were doing from the start, so I never bothered to think how they learned the mechanics.

I can see how if you go into the game knowing absolutely nothing, how playing the game could be ridiculously daunting. I didn't think there wouldn't be a tutorial of some kind to at least help you understand the basics.

That is kind of weird considering how as a sandbox game, it's supposed to be tremendously easy to pick up and play. I thought that was the appeal. But if you don't know what you're doing and not patient with it, then I can understand why someone would get frustrated.

My guess is that kids watch streamers play it so much that they pick up on what to do from that?

Gotta be this. That’s the only reason my son even knew about it

But when you start out everything is kinda just there and you’re in this open space and there’s not really any direction on what you should begin to do. And then the controls aren’t very smooth either

I got New Pokémon Snap a few months ago and my three year old got the hang of it pretty quickly. It’s pretty straight forward and you can’t die or anything like that, so it makes it fun. Great game to relax to as well.

My stepson showed me Minecraft one night after I had been telling him that I don’t understand it. Well turns out that night I was just the right amount of stoned and it clicked. Creative mode is fun to do. I still don’t understand survival.

I finally started Skyward Sword, which is pretty much the only mainline 3D Zelda that I've never played before. Only just now became able to leave the hometown before I stopped but I'm already enjoying this, gives me that classic Zelda feel that BOTW never gave me, despite how much I loved that game. Hopefully once this opens up that feeling stays

It's not going to open up, it's basically a corridor shooter with swords

Being a Zelda fan means you have supreme taste in one of the most critically acclaimed game series ever made to be quite honest.

But you can only ever like one of them at a time and anyone who disagrees with you just doesn't understand the series.

I just beat the tokyo tower boss, ran down a corridor, met a merman that confused my mermaid and she ended up killing my own party.

see the secret best feature of an emulator is getting to rage alt-f4 out of a game :crylaugh:

  22. Just too much other stuff to do. After work, spending time with my son, dinner, putting him to bed, etc I have like an hour to do something before I go to bed lol. And if my wife wants to watch something with me I do that. I also have like four books I'm trying to read. And I still put some time into animal crossing. Too much to do, no time to do it.
