yeah lol I guess I should’ve been more specific and said “none of the meaningful Platinum content”

I’m not going to jump to conclusions because of leakers potentially playing an unfinished version lol the Pokémon community sucks so hard sometimes

This 100%. That community can be the absolute worst and HATE anything that's not absolutely perfect.

I'm by no means part of the Pokemon "community", in fact I hold a lot of opinions that I've come to understand the Pokemon community doesn't hold (I enjoyed Sword a lot, for example), I'm just going by what I'm reading from people who actually have the game.

And I was one of the people who was initially excited for these remakes AND liked the art style fwiw.

I just like Pokémon. I don’t know if I’ll get the remakes right away, but maybe around Christmas I’ll get them. I’m just excited for the game coming in January to be honest. It looks like the kind of game I’ve been wanting from them.

I’ve been bouncing off of games in my backlog since beating Dread and haven’t stuck on anything.

so, naturally I went to see what was on sale and snagged Yoku’s Island Express for 5 bucks and this is exactly what I needed.

Such an inventive and fun game. I never finished it; definitely want to do that someday.

Disliking a remastered game because it's faithful to the original material and not its sequel seems odd to me (in regards to Pokemon)

there was one time I could not hit the flipper just right and I started to sweat and got visibly frustrated. other than that it’s been a joy.

It’s just a big letdown after the Gen 2 and Gen 3 remakes both incorporated their respective third games’ content in a meaningful way. It’s really not an unfair criticism. Also Platinum isn’t the “sequel” to Diamond and Pearl, Black and White are the sequels to Diamond and Pearl. A full Gen 4 remake isn’t really complete without all of the Gen 4 content in my opinion.

It is disappointing that the full distortion world is not returning for the remakes, but you can get Mew with a Let’s Go saved file so that makes up for it for me.

I think the discourse on the game here is very fair, the negativity I was talking about was more on twitter and stuff. I was never super excited to play it but I was thinking to give it a chance before all the hullabaloo, I still may do that eventually. Maybe once I get bored of animal crossing.

First of all, sorry to just bust into this thread and ask away, but I figured that I might get some hands-on feedback on here that I won't get elsewhere.

Some background: last Nintendo console I owned was the SNES, so I am pretty much out of the loop on Nintendo games.

My 10 year-old daughter has wanted a Switch for quite some time, and we decided that now would be a good time. I also have an 8 year-old daughter, who will probably want to join her sister when playing, so co-op is important.

So here is my question: What would be the 2-3 must-own co-op games that they will enjoy not only for a couple of weeks, but that have a great replayability? We already own Minecraft and Crash Team Racing on PS4.

Also, a bunch of her friends have had a Switch for quite some time (none of the parents are really tech-savvy though, which is why I can't really ask them about the games), so we should be able to borrow some of the "bigger" games without a problem. Which is why any oddball recommendations would be totally welcome.

    Thanks in advance!

you've come to the right place!

    Kirby Star Allies
    Luigi's Mansion
    Super Mario 3D World
    Toad's Treasure Tracker

and you might want to get Super Smash Bros Ultimate, even if it's not technically co-op, but it is multiplayer.

I tried to keep it to the ones that I think are actually suitable for 8-10 year olds.

Overcooked 1 and 2 (I think they might come in a physical packaged together?) are your best bet for long lasting co-op in my opinion.

I specifically didn't recommend Overcooked because in my experience people get so heated, but they're very good games well worth considering haha

Yeah overcooked also has a bigger learning curve, I think.

I’ve played with people my age that struggled to get the hang of it as you progress into the later stages.

Snipperclips is a fun and cute game for kids, and is pretty cheap.

Otherwise, Mario Kart, 3D World, Smash, and Mario Party Superstars should be good ones
