    This, 100%.

I just have an overall bad taste in my mouth about Nintendo these days. I had to buy 3 Nintendo Switch consoles for my family to be able to play animal crossing since they lock the islands to the console and it sucks to share.

That and the fact that they offer so few discounts, years after stuff is released, etc. It's also a bitch to play half of the best games they've got since they're spread out over the various systems with crap compatibility and remake timeframes.

You’d think they’d put a multiple island feature in that big update but Nintendo gonna Nintendo

No, that was the right choice.

I think they’ve done a pretty poor job of selling this tbh - always give people the monthly price, not the annual price. The sticker shock is a lot lower when you break it down per month.

Also I reckon they might struggle to hold subscribers into a second year unless they’ve got some big surprises up their sleeve. Those N64 games will get old fast and no one cares about the Genesis.

I kind of wonder if they snuck this information into the Animal Crossing Direct because they knew people would react this way?

I finally decided to watch this animal crossing update and while it’s all cool stuff this just feels like it took too long to put all of this stuff in. It feels like most of this should have been day 1 or early on.

A lot of this I don't think should have been day one except for the cafe of course, but everything else absolutely should have happened well before now.

Well, you don’t really own most digital games, just a license to play them for an undetermined time, but that’s a whole other bucket of worms

Having a few drinks with friends and hooking up four controllers to a 64 and playing Goldeneye is just as fun, if not more so, than it was when I was a kid.

I’ll have to wait until the N64 library expands. Ocarina is basically the only one I know I’d play on the regular. I need Banjo, DK64, WaveRace, Paper Mario, Goldeneye, etc...

Also, I give no fucks about the Sega stuff. Can’t believe Nintendo is pushing that as part of the price hike.

It’s not that $50 will break the bank, but when I start to look at all the subscription services I’m already paying for annually (Netflix, Hulu/Disney, PS plus, Apple Music, Prime, etc...) this shit really starts to add up and ultimately I’m getting ripped off somewhere because I don’t have nearly enough time in my life to take advantage of these services.

I used to play Mario Tennis ALL THE TIME, it was basically an anxiety reducer for me. I might be more excited to play that again than anything else.

I thought emulation of N64 games was terrible, has that changed?

I personally have never had a problem emulating Nintendo 64, but what may not be a problem for me may be for others. I dunno, maybe someone will notice something that I don't because I don't care quite as much? Hard for me to say. I always look at it like "can I play it?" and if I can, then I'm golden.

Walked into a local Walmart this morning, and then walked out with a white OLED Switch. I was shocked to see they had five just sitting there in the cabinet.

I’m at my state’s biggest comic con (with masks) and this Hollow Knight cosplay is awesome.

Yep definitely had a ton of fun playing it in the dorms. It was funny watching people who were great at CoD get demolished by me and then just blaming the age of the game

I thought I was really good at Mario Kart 64 until I played against some friends in the dorms and got absolutely demolished. They knew all the shortcuts.

In Australia we seemed to get tons of OLED stock, I was able to purchase two units on release day without a pre-order and haven’t seen any retailer that’s run out of supply since then. Maybe there’s not the demand for them here that there is in the US but seems weird that stock is constrained there when stores here have a full inventory. Contrast with the XBox Series X and PS5 which have been impossible for anyone who didn’t have an early pre-order to get hold of.

Memories are nice, but that's all they are. Prestigious

Nintendo isn’t held up as much by the chip shortage with the ones they’re using, so it’ll be easier to produce the models and keep a supply flowing compared to the mess that Sony/Microsoft are dealing with

At this point the wafer powering the switch is really old and has extremely high yield, plus it’s a 5 year old console still selling at its day 1 price.
plus I’m assuming retailers have heavily discounted the original models, making those what people pick up.
