I both love and hate Nintendo's commitment to not making a new iteration of a franchise unless there's something they think they can do with it that's different or tied in with the hardware.

On the one hand, they try not to pump out sequel after sequel and dilute their brand names, and on the other hand, it means we're only seeing one game in a franchise per console, if that.

It's like, when they say they want to do a new F-Zero but can't think of anything new to do with it, I want to shake them and scream "NO ONE CARES, FUCKING MAKE IT!"

Anyway, while I'm ranting about Nintendo, I would sell my organs if they'd ever make a new StarTropics. I know that will never happen because Nintendo only occasionally admits that franchise even exists.

 

I'll have to update my opinions when I'm further into the game. However, some of my favorite franchises are visual novels, so I'm absolutely A-OK with the idea of a visual novel broken up by Zelda gameplay.

 

Should they begin or end the montage with Mother/Earthbound?

 

All I want from this Direct is an NSO update (happy even if it's only GameBoy at this point) and a frigging Disco Elysium release date. It's not much to ask but I'm sure Nintendo will still find a way to disappoint me.

I fear people expecting N64 to magically drop on NSO tomorrow are going to end the show feeling very flat...

It actually would be nice if they just came out and told us what they never plan on doing ever again. That way we could all stop hoping for shit. Like if they just came out and said “The west is never getting Mother 3, ever” that would actually be better than things currently are.
