I worked at Target in the days of Wii (so things certainly may have changed), but the general rule of thumb seems to be: If the Switch console is displayed in the ad, some stock will be held until Sunday morning (the day the ad runs). Also if you lurk r/nintendoSwitch you'll find people posting when they are able to find stock online.

    and a millions screams...

Target by me said they haven't gotten any in since Monday but they had 4 this past Sunday and 4 on Monday. So it looks like they get 4 each shipment

It's been super sparse since Monday. I've tried like 4 targets, 2 Best Buy's and a toys r us since then and haven't heard of anything in stock.

My bet is that toys r us or Best Buy on Sunday at time of open is going to be the best bet. They will be sold out within a minute of opening if they get any though.

I need a screen protector. Docking it makes me nervous... it's not smooth haha

I don't see this ending well for Nintendo. And it's going to impact stock when they have to provide replacements.

I haven't played one yet, is the issue the screen rubs against the inside of the dock when you put it in?

I think it's a combination of the dock track making contact with the screen/bezel and the screen being plastic and not glass so more susceptible to scratching. Personally though, I've taken it in and out of the dock several times and no scratching so I'm not 100% sure what I'm doing different.

Amazon.ca is telling me its expected to be back in stock March 13th, it let me put one in my cart to "reserve" it. Does this mean i'm guaranteed one when it restocks then? I am uncertain.

I've seen people really talking up the tempered glass screen protectors, I think you can grab them on Amazon, maybe check those out

I just can't see how anyone could be comfortable docking this thing. I'm thinking about trying to attach a microfiber cloth piece to the area that the screen faces and slides on.

I don't have any problem docking it. There's so much space in between I find it hard to imagine scratching it if you're careful.

I probably wouldn't scratch it anyway. Just those new console jitters.

I get it. Especially with something like this that's so fiddly and delicate.

It does seem like there is always like one obvious thing that Nintendo overlooks with launches. Like how the 3DS first was leaving marks on the screen when you'd close it.

I think my 3DS will always have those marks lol

I saw via Reddit that some docks shipped with rubber placed on the rails near the bottom to allegedly prevent the screen issue. Mine definitely does not have it, just straight plastic all the way (no scratches yet, though).

It really is a bit clunky sliding it into the dock. It's one of those times where I wish Nintendo had the Apple-level attention to detail to nail the small stuff like that.

I wonder why they couldn't have done it the way the Wii U Gameped charging dock works.

Not sure, maybe check out the Switch subreddit

My understanding is the wii u dock literally just charges, while the Switch dock has tech inside. Or is the switch dock also just plastic/charger?

I saw this thread but I can't find it again, however my dock does have 2 small sections of rubber on either side of the screen-facing inner side. Really odd that some didn't get those

Well yes, but there is no reason they cannot make a bigger one with more functionality.
