You guys are killing me! I’ve been slowly working through my back log on PS5/Switch. I’ve had XC2 forever, but then 1DE came out. Y’all were saying it’s a incredible JRPG. So I was finally gonna pull the trigger now that I finished BOTW. Should I just start XC2 then?

Nintendo should really strike while the iron is hot and make cardboard cool again.

I adore it. It’s messy sometimes, but still.

I seem to be in the minority on this but I'm finding both of Skyward Sword's control schemes clunky. The motion controls are way more finicky than I remember them being on the original game. I have to reorient the pointer literally EVERY time I try to do something. Maybe I need to move my switch? I'm still on motion controls, though, because I'm actually finding the right stick sword controls even less consistent, and the L+stick camera annoys me even though I understand why they had to do it that way.

How dumb would it be for me to leave a powered down Switch in a hot car for 4 hours? I don't want to damage the battery, but I'm going to be staying at a hotel out of town and checking out early to attend a funeral, so I won't have a hotel room to leave it in that day

They actually might hold it for you in coat check (if they have one)

lol don’t worry about it at all. The consoles innards get hotter than your car ever could be.

I think you should be fine leaving it in the car.

Thanks all! Sounds like I should be ok. I'll definitely keep it turned off to be safe, and store in a case to keep sunlight off of it.

Think of all the tech in your car (sat nav etc.) they’re no different from your switch and they can all withstand the temperature too.

the camera is the only part that has me frustrated. With motion controls, does the right stick turn into a normal right stick that changes camera angle since sword is all motion activated? That might actually be enough to get me to use motion controls for the first time ever when having a choice…

It wasn’t like that on Wii

the wii didn't have a right stick, the only way to move the camera was to recenter your view with ZL on the nunchuck

(the motion controls were perfect on the Wii, the game even came with a precision enhancing addon iirc)

Yeah Wii Motion Plus was wild. Wii Sports Resort was insanely accurate. Is the Switch as accurate as Wii Motion Plus? I guess it would have to be if they ported this, but it didn’t feel that way playing other games.

Yeah I know the camera control is new to this version. The big thing that’s different from the Wii, though, is the weird pointer drift I’m getting, presumably because there used to be a fixed reference point for the controller (the sensor bar) and now we’re just relying on the joycon gyroscope. No exaggeration to say I have to press Y at least every 5 minutes because the pointer has drifted fully off screen.
