as always, thank god for James Stephanie Sterling

 

The argument of "having more money in your bank account now that there is no Switch Pro" is fucking bullshit because I'd rather have a Switch Pro than that money.

Also I am over the constant negativity by Jim Stephanie, although they do a great job when it comes to industry stuff, esp. constantly making sure people know how shitty Ubisoft is.

 

Okay but why get so angry about it?

 

Also Jim Steph's main point of "don't get angry at Nintendo just because you all got carried away and played yourselves" is 100% accurate. Hopefully The Gamers will remember this next time (they won't).

 

I think being angry *is* weird but being disappointed is justified imo

 

because ninten-tubers have made weekly videos for 3 years saying the "switch pro" would cure cancer. I blame them for a lot of the hype around a redesign for the switch. like look at the ds/3ds midlife updates. nintendo never really does midlife updates on consoles that would split the audience in half

 

mid gen upgrades don't split the console audience in half

also neither sony nor microsoft have done it before this gen

 

The only time Nintendo has ever done a mid-life power upgrade to one of their systems was the New Nintendo 3DS XL. They've never done it for a home console. Just because other platform holders do it now doesn't mean Nintendo will too. When has Nintendo ever just gone along with what everyone else does?

Nintendo never once said a Switch Pro was coming. It's not their fault people didn't get what they designed in their heads.

 

Nintendo has done more mid-gen upgrades than either of the other two.

with the rumors of it being 4k 60fps, how is it not going to split the audience?

 

the exact same way the PS4 Pro and the One X didn't.

Although the New 3DS actually *did* split the audience because it *did* get exclusives.

 

And only a handful at that, which kind of proves the point.

I don't like the idea of things like the Pro and the One X because I feel like there's no point to making new hardware with better specs if you're not going to make games that take advantage of that because you're hamstrung to make it backwards compatible with the old hardware.

That being said, if it's a case of needing better hardware to run the software you've already made... that's a whole different level of screwball.

Man, what if that's the business plan all along? "Hey Bob, let's make a console, but let's make it slightly underpowered. Then, when everyone's bought our games, we'll make a new version that can actually run them. We'll get them coming and going." "Genius, Phil."

 

I mean if you don't like the idea, just don't buy it, nothing changes for you if they release a pro model.

Anyways I started MHS2 and Octopath this weekend and I am in heaven

 

I’m cool waiting a few years, as long as the games are compatible. Really hoping Nintendo doesn’t try and change things up too much. Also hope they learned their lesson of not having 20 different controller options like Wii U.

 

The Pro is still coming. Everyone calm the fuck down.

 

Also, nintendo said they will sell the dock separately if someone just wants the dock so they’ve done nothing wrong with this whole thing tbh

 

The Pro is not coming. A Switch 2 is coming in like 2 years minimum.

 

Not even a handful, there was like one total exclusive game and one game that technically ran on the old ones but was basically unplayable on them.

I’ve had the DS port of Chrono Trigger for years and decided to try it the other day. Why have a waited so long? Lol

 

Finally got to play Hades and my goodness this is a lot of fun.

 

Honestly that sounds better to me. PS5 is completely exceeding my expectations, I don’t need two new consoles to fawn over at the same time. Ive got plennnnty to play as is.
