This pretty much confirms there won’t be a 4K switch until they release the successor to the Switch in like 2-3 years.

 

That’s the one good thing about this at least.

It points to a legitimate successor sooner than later. Maybe.

 

that's like saying a ps4 slim makes a ps4 pro unlikely. come on guys keep the dream alive.

 

A Switch Lite would be like a PS4 slim while this is Nintendo’s version of a Pro it seems

 

To be fair there is no reason do release a more powerful Switch just yet, the Switch is selling way too well and the overall market is way too volatile

What I meant to imply is that I think it's not that they won't improve upon it, they just won't do it yet

 

I think everyone thought a pro would come out next holiday season and this was surprising because it’s much sooner, I guess that’s still kind of possible. That dock looks way better, wish they sold that on its own.

 

The dock is half the reason I’m getting this.

 

The lite does cut off essential functions.

I think I misunderstood this question before.

I think because there is a market for this, for example among people who have wrecked their original Switches by now, and because sometimes upgrading your hardware actually makes production cheaper while also allowing you to sell it for more money (not saying this is the case here).

 

Yeah supply chain stuff is all that makes sense

 

You guys underestimate how many people with too much disposable income that aren't on forums buy nonsense that is slightly prettier than what they already have. Add to that there are still a lot of people looking to buy their first Switch (and now can buy one that is prettier and more expensive) and this really isn't weird.

 

The plus side for them is, I don’t think it’ll do so well that they’ll need to worry about making a ton. They gave people something and it’ll probably do just fine, now they can work on whatever they want to do next. If they just made it a lite version that’s the same or a slightly better resolution and a better dock, I would’ve considered getting it just for portability.

 

That’s true and they’re fucking weirdos, who needs 20 different switches lol use that disposable income to help candidates that want to help the homeless and give people healthcare.

 

Also, because it’s Nintendo, people will buy it

 

I’m definitely getting this day one but mostly because my current switch is messed up and over heats while it’s docked. If only this released on July 8th instead of October
