Memories are nice, but that's all they are. Prestigious

Anyone have any recommendations for a second dock?

I have an Insignia dock from Best Buy (which I think they discontinued, but you can get from Ebay) that works really well and then I have a Genki dock which is less traditional. It's a covert dock that plugs directly into the outlet and you connect a cable to the switch, not actually set it inside the dock like the Nintendo one.

Here's some feedback on the Insignia one, I've read from many, many places how safe and reliable it is and I've had mine for years with no problems.

I have the insignia one too and it’s pretty much all I use. Never had a problem. But yeah I think it’s discontinued. They do have a rocket fish brand one now. Both are Best Buy house brands so I don’t see why the quality would be too different

Yeah, I noticed that too. I think they're roughly the same price as well!

Both being a housebrand doesn’t really mean that they’ll be similar because it’s just shit they buy from random manufacturers and slap a logo on. However, Best Buy is really not interested in bricking consoles, so they’ll probably at least be safe, unlike some other third party docks out there.

Best Buy would get a lot of shit if they released a product that bricked a ton of Switches.

Littlewood finally hit Switch. Very cute and fun Harvest Moon/Stardew Valley like game. It's got some town building stuff too.

I just ordered a Skull & Co. dock today that I've heard nothing but great things about. Will report back when I finally get it.

Today I was able to finally beat the final level in 3D World, Champion’s Road. I couldn’t do it back on Wii U. Felt so good to get that done.

Surprised by how engaging I'm finding Bravely Default 2 - didn't play the first two and usually it takes me a few hours to settle in to a JRPG but this game has grabbed me instantly

The first one did nothing for me, but this one looks real interesting.

Finally started 3D Allstars today. This is the first time I've played 64 in years and it honestly didn't age nearly as well as I thought it did, I'm struggling with the camera and controls pretty often. I'll get used to it though, the game is still a lot of fun

I have found that a thing that many people that have problems with the camera are doing is trying to fight it too much. Just accept that this is in many ways a pre-camera control game and just let it be. More often than not the default angle is what it is for a reason.

Aside from Mario Kart, only Mario game I have thus far is Super Mario Bros deluxe (we just got the Switch for Xmas) and playing with my 6-year-old has been just an absolute blast. I'm actually farther along in the game with him than I am doing it solo (although, admittedly, I don't play much solo - and he's not very good at all :crylaugh::crylaugh::crylaugh:).

I'd like to get one of the newer Mario's but there are so many now that I have no clue what to get. I had heard last year Odyssey was one of the better ones, but is it better than 3D world? or 3D all-stars? It's too hard for me to keep up with.

odyssey is absolutely the best mario game available if you haven’t played it yet. 3d all stars is cool but feels very much like a port, and while 3d world is pretty dope it’s not on the same level as odyssey. if you plan to play with your little one maybe 3d world is the best option due to the co-op but odyssey is definitely the superior solo player option

Thanks. You can't do 2-player on Odyssey?

  18. Maybevictor

    @maybevictor Prestigious

apparently you can, I just wasn’t aware of it till just now. sounds like a different kind of 2 player since one player controls mario and the other controls his cap. that actually may be perfect to play with a kid.

either way the game is incredible and lots of fun and I can’t recommend it enough.

Not really, or more accurately barely. Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe is a 2D Mario game for Switch that does have real multiplayer. Much like 3D World but 2D.

Yeah, that's what my son and I are playing now. Is 3D World/3D All-Stars multi-player?

Sorry, thought you were playing 3D World. 3D World has multiplayer, much like the one you’re playing now, but 3D-ish (it’s 3D, but not 3D like the games on 3D All-Stars). 3D All-Stars does not have multiplayer. One of them (Galaxy) technically has some multiplayer, but not to the point where two people actually control characters (you more or less control a cursor, similar to Odyssey).

I was a little under the influence when I tried it and had some issues figuring it out but it seemed cool! I went back to work and 3D World happened so I haven’t gotten back to it yet but plan on doing so this week
