A lot of people that own Switches did not own WiiUs. They’d be stupid to sell these relatively overlooked games at a discount even though most people that buy them will never have played them. If you do own the WiiU copy and a WiiU, just play that if you don’t want to pay for the Switch version.

I guess the reason full price ports feel such a con is the amount of content you get for your money nowadays compared to 20 years ago. With albums and movies the amount of content you get has changed very little over the last 50 years, you know you're getting about 30-60 minutes from an album and 90-120 minutes from a film. Games however have doubled, tripled, quadrupled in size over the last couple of decades.

Yeah but this is not exactly an old game, nor is it a short or shallow game by any means. It’s not like they’re selling NES games for 60$. The WiiU is hardly retro. It basically is a Switch.

I have a WiiU and I’m going to get 3D World for the Switch. Ports don’t make me mad or anything. My Switch is my main console. If I can play everything I want to on there, I’ll shovel out the money.

Nintendo in general has a problem with game pricing in many different ways. One huge example is how the prices never drop unless they deign to put out some kind of “Bestseller” version or whatever.

If you go on the eShop right now, Breath of the Wild costs...$60. It’s a four year old game at this point. That’s messed up! And I get the response is “why should they lower the price if people keep paying it”. And yeah that’s true. But it doesn’t make it ok.

If they sold the Wii U ports for $40, or even $50, they’d have way more good will.

I always go to the local Walmart to pick up new games because they are $50 there.

I do think ports will become less acceptable if the next real (not half-step) Nintendo hardware really is basically a more powerful Switch. At that point backwards compatibility should be a matter of course. If they make wildly different hardware again, it's a different story. Knowing Nintendo, I think the latter is not impossible.

Yeah, I haven't played the full retail price for a new game in years just because I look at what different shops are charging

After finished BotW, my first full Zelda game, and it really opening my mind to the Zelda franchise I ended up picking up Links Awakening on the Switch. Definitely will not spend as many hours on this as BotW but it's a great game so far. Some of the puzzles have through me but the difficulty is definitely way down. Albeit it's a different style of game. I wish i still had my DS or Gameboy to get the other games. Will definitely look at Skyward Sword when it comes out.

LA is so much different than BOTW though. No way any previous Zelda will get that many hours of playtime.

Skyward Sword is not great. I don’t think button controls will help a lot either because the pretty advanced motion controls were one of the only interesting (though not that enjoyable) things about it. The art and the characters were pretty nice too I guess.

Skyward Sword is definitely in my top ten Wii games. It is unfairly maligned.

I agree, Skyward Sword isn’t great. It’s amazing.

I definitely am not one of the people that hates it for being a Wii-ass Wii game. I never had a problem with those.

I think it gets too much hate for the linearity too. Just because it doesn't disguise its linearity with an "open world" like previous Zelda games doesn't make it bad imo.

Xenoblade Chronicles is a good choice in theory but I would never want to play the Wii version again.

The Wii Mario Kart and Smash entries are criminally underrated.

Death Jr. and Little King’s Story are two hidden gems.
