What are you talking about? There's supposed to be Silksong news in February and that could easily be this direct. There's also Zelda's anniversary, Metroid's anniversary, Pokemon Snap, Mario and Rabbids, and a very real possibility of completely new reveals.

You think they would wait this long to do a full 50 minute direct and show nothing exciting?

The most exciting news will probably be a Silksong release date. Probably 90% or more of what will be in the direct is stuff we already know about. And of the 10% or less of stuff we don't know about, most of that will probably be Wind Waker HD and Twilight Princess HD getting Switch release dates.

It's just stuff coming in the first half of 2021. No Metroid Prime 4. No Breath of the Wild 2. It would be advisable not to get one's hopes up for this Direct.

 

to be fair, Nintendo has been announcing games only like 1-2 months in advance lately so I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s something we weren’t expecting for the first half of 2021

 

A new smash character alone is worth a direct

If it's just stuff coming in the first half then what you're saying doesn't make sense. It would make more sense TO get your hopes up because it's more likely they'll be announcing stuff we don't know about since they have almost nothing lined up for release in the next 5 months.

 

Exactly. I don't get why people are like "ITS NOT GONNA HAVE BREATH OF THE WILD 2, THEY HAVE NOTHING TO OFFER US" when Nintendo constantly is just like "hey, here's this indie, it's out today. Here's our new game, it's coming out in a few months."

 

Nerds like big game showcases. That’s not for a few months, relax.

 

I bought Smash when it came out but only played it for a month or two. I wish it wasn't the focus of every Direct.

 

Yeah I can't remember the last time I played Smash tbh

 

I have liked every Smash a lot, but I don't understand the character announcement is a big deal thing at all. As a casual fan a new character is worth a 2 minute Twitter announcement to me and anything else seems like only for the hardcore of the hardcore.

That said I'm reasonably optimistic about this evening - feel like we might finally see Metroid Prime trilogy or new 2D Metroid. My money is on no definitive BOTW 2 is coming in 2021 news, but a passing mention and anniversary ports announcement wouldn't shock me.

My real pie in the sky dream is new Mario Kart DLC - seems clear MK9 isn't coming until Switch 2, and a new cup or two would easily be worth $15 to me.

That's all I'm expecting really. Keeping expectations way low to avoid being burned.

 

A lot play competitive, I guess that’s why. I remember I had friends that played in tournaments weekly, it’s a serious thing for some.

 

I think a lot of it has to do with the potential of bringing in characters from franchises that you wouldn't expect. Crossovers are still pretty rare, so seeing them come to life in real time is exciting. People were stoked when Fox was announced as a character in Starlink

 

Nah it will just be the character trailer. Sakura has his own directs that goes in depths on the character.

 

I'm not expecting Monster Hunter Rise to take up much time either as it already had it's own mini direct.

 

Are you sure that won’t be included tho?

 

It definitely won't be. Every DLC for Ultimate has had their own direct just a few days before release that is separate from Nintendo Direts.

 

I hope so, the way it was mentioned seems more like it’s combined rather than just part of it tho

So I have the old model of this and it works really well, but I love this new model they just released. I would highly recommend it to any of you who want to use Bluetooth headphones with your Switch.

 

I would bet that they will announce a Sakurai presentation for like next week probably to go in depth with the new character.
