If that's the case, dude's a true professional considering how much effort looks like it was put into the character and the stage.

 

The more western reps the better and Minecraft is the highest selling game of all time. Makes sense.

 

yeah, it makes sense, business wise. it'll def move units, for the game/dlc and the console.

there's no way Sakurai would half ass a character in his game tho, no matter how he feels about it. seems like this is the second character in a row that he faced unique challenges with implementing an aspect about a fighter, Min Min's ARMS both attached to each button, and now the whole block concept for Steve.

i also love Sakurai's added little shade ""[...]Surely you can put Minecraft in Smash Ultimate," while peering at me over their glasses"

Disappointing for me personally just because I don't care about Minecraft at all so it does nothing for me. Definitely looks like a cool concept and stuff though.

 

Huh, I havent got Smash and don't follow it closely, but I honestly thought Steve was already in.

 

I don’t think the business angle matters because this game basically couldn’t sell better or faster than it already does, it’s wild

 

executives will ALWAYS want product to sell better and faster. no matter how profitable it already is.

 

At this point people will have to buy another copy

 

i dont play minecraft but that game is so massive and so beloved and formative to a slightly younger generation that it totally makes sense. im very cool with it

 

I will probably never stop playing as Cloud or Kirby, but at least with Minecraft a lot of other people playing it for the first time will be excited seeing someone they recognize.

Really thought they were going to go with Crash, but I also expected to be completely surprised. I’m completely surprised.

 

Not really surprised by Steve myself because he's been rumored for what feels like forever

 

i mean i wouldn't say he was "rumoured" so much as people nonstop have been clamoring for him, same people have been asking for Master Chief too (i will uninstall the goddamn game if that happens)

 

I’m not very plugged in to the smash community so idk what form the statements about Steve were specifically taking, I just know I’ve seen him thrown out there more than once in “leaks” or “rumors” that actually did break out into the mainstream consciousness.
