The battle system is really, really cool. I enjoy it a lot. I just wish there was a reason for me to engage with it.

Without incentive to fight as many battles as you can, the battles kind of just become an impediment to getting to the next bit of great dialogue, which turns them into an annoyance. That's a real shame when the system they've created is so interesting.

 

I really hope the direct tomorrow is real

 

considering it's 6:09 pm EST the day before and we haven't heard anything, I think it's safe to say that rumor was false lol

 

After playing just a bit of Paper Mario, past the first wave battle, my initial impressions are:

- This game is adorable
- Love the humor
- I'm having way too much fun with Mario's dumb "1000 fold stretchy arms" with the motion controls
- Actually darker than I expected haha. Putting characters under a giant stapler, wow
- Not sure I understand the criticism of why this isn't an RPG based on the first battle anyways, but I'll see how annoying the battles get with time
- It does bother me when games give you yes/no questions and your choice has no actual bearing on what happens next
- it also bothers me a bit when games have save points instead of just letting me save where I want
