@dadbolt haha yeah glad you found it. Sorry, I wasn't sure if it was ok to post here.

Told my lady I was going to buy her the pro controller - but she keeps insisting for me to not do that. Not yet anyway. I keep telling her that I'm just trying to make sure she has the best experience playing Breath of the Wild.

I wonder when she's going to let me play this system... I did but it for us, but mainly her. Haha

Apparently Nintendo already said the occasional Joy Con issues can and will be fixed with a software update

That's good to hear. Now all i have to worry about is my console getting here on time.

I'm sure everyone has seen it, but posting it regardless because I can't do anything else right now. I've never been this excited about a console before.

I was so hyped about the DS I remember loosing my fucking mind when I booted up Mario 64 on that first day

It's not exactly an "occasional" issue, as it seems to stem from the way the joy-cons are tethered to and communicate with the console, but as long as it can actually be fixed with a software update then that's fine with me.

I was in high school that time and I wasn't able to get it on release day. I DID convince my mom why I deserved one eventually haha.

And then I lost my fucking mind when I booted up Mario 64 on that first day as well.

It actualy is, since a small minority of the people with pre-release (!!!) consoles are experiencing this. Since a software update can fix it, it is clearly a bug, which explains why most people aren't having these problems.

I think as long as we can all refrain from playing with the controllers behind our backs or while sitting on them, we will be fine :) (I hope)

    *might have figured out*

Also, that doesn't change the fact that it did not happen to most people (meaning it is occasional) and that it is apparently a software issue that they are aware of and are planning to fix. Business as usual. This all just nonsense Internet hysteria. Gotta get those clicks.

Calling something "clickbait" for trying to get to the bottom of this problem is pretty astounding to me. Also, you're telling me that this couldn't be reproduced with any Switch out there in the wild right now? I have a really, really hard time believing that. If you actually watched the video (seems like you didn't) you'll see the that the problem stems from cutting off what appears to be the joy-con's communication with the console itself (the green light). Further, this guy reproduces the same phenomenon on the right joy-con, which until this video hadn't even been a known issue (everyone was saying it was just the left joy-con). And "might have figured out" came from the user who posted the video. If you watch the video, you'll see that they actually did figure it out.

    But yeah, clickbait, I guess?

If this is simply an issue of blocking something with your hand, there 1. would not be a software fix and 2. it would be much more common

Yeah, there are plenty of impressions that didn't have the issue, but we have no idea what their setup was then playing. How they held the Joycon, their distance from the console, where it was positioned. Those without issue may have just been playing in an ideal setup that would reduce their risk for interference.

Which was my concern in the first place, exactly. But it isn't just about "blocking it with your hand," if you've been seriously following this story at all (have you?) you'd know that it's also affecting people when they have the joy-cons in the dock. It seems like it's an issue with the way the joy-cons communicate with the console, almost as if they are on an invisible wire and it's being messed with. As for why it isn't more common, see @electro haikus 's post above.

Also, again, how does any of this account for the issue being reproduced on the right joy-con? Or do you think this guy was the literal only person in the world who got a Switch early and is having right joy-con issues as well?

He might be, but all of this does not matter, because it is pre release hardware with a software bug that is known and fixable. That is normal. That's what I mean with hysteria.

I'm mostly excited to play a Zelda that actually disrupts the typical structure of the series in a way we haven't seen before. A Link Between Worlds did it in kind of a half-measure way, as it streamlined the dungeon item process but otherwise hewed rather closely the the traditional mold (which was by no means a bad thing because the game was excellent). This is just totally different in every sense of the word.

I don't know if anyone likes this podcast (I love it) but they touch on the joy-cons early in the episode. Like Shahid, I think it's a software or a firmware issue that will be fixed on the day one patch. I can't fathom that Nintendo would spend so much R&D money on this with it being a full blown hardware issue. I've calmed down immensely since yesterday and have complete faith this will be fixed on day one.
