This so much. It was a 6 second emotional roller coaster. I'll be turning to you next Friday as I obsessively refresh my tracking number.

Probably not but I wish they would announce when the first VC games will be released prior to the launch of the console

I would be more likely to buy a Switch if the Virtual Console was there, especially if my Wii U purchases carried over.

I would be shocked if there's no VC at all at launch. It'll probably be the most basic offerings at best, but there is no reason on earth not to have at least the first Super Mario Bros. available, as it can be emulated on a toaster. Maybe even with net play, as it's so easy to implement, even the 3DS is able to via download play. If they don't offer it, it'll be embarrassing. Only excuse for that is if they haven't ironed out policies on how 3DS/WiiU purchases will transfer over yet, which itself is kinda inexcusable imo.

Wishful thinking but I wish some of my 3DS/Wii U purchases would carry over to Switch. That would be a neat surprise on day 1.

Nintendo's strength is in its nostalgia. They should know that by now, especially with the NES Classic. Being able to take all those classic games on the go should be available as soon as possible and if people end up having to wait two years for Nintendo 64 games again it is an embarrassment.

I agree completely. Especially given that N64 emulation on Wii U was inferior to the emulators my mid range 2014 Asus laptop could run on default settings.

Honestly, and this is fan entitlement to some degree, but we are somewhat owed a level of carryover at this point. I have a cart of SMB3, a copy of All Stars, a copy of the poor All Stars port for Wii, a copy of the GBA port, as well as Wii, 3DS and Wii U VC copies. I am never, ever buying that game again, and I shouldn't have to.

Especially at the prices they charge.

People talk a lot about Nintendo trying to be like Apple, but they have not yet learned the value of virtual libraries carrying over and the way that can lock in customers.

Sending you my energy. That thing is so limited. If you do lose it, email Nintendo with your order number. They have awesoms customer service and will likely hook you up in some capacity regardless of retailer. My experience with them over the years has been awesome.

I'm gonna need Super Mario 64 on the virtual console immediately

I was so spoiled by the DS version but that's going to be tougher to port I think, because dual screens.

watching people speedrun super Mario 64 is one of my favorite things ever.

Luckily, the DS version would be pretty easy to port I think, because the main game had the touch screen function as a static map, and only the mini games in the extras used it mechanically. I agree though, that port ruled so hard. The only main series Mario game where Wario is playable. What a travesty.

SM64DS with actual analog controls and no run button would be incredible.

If they manage to do it, I would buy it in a heartbeat. My SO loved all the new Mario games (3D Land, 3D World) and I always tell her how incredible 64 and that she should play it. She just finished OoT (note, I haven't) and adored it.

And then she'll get on the penguin level, and she'll realize that this is where life culminates, and she'll do what all of us did during that time - throw that damn harmless kid penguin off the cliff, out of curiosity.

It still makes me laugh out loud how everyone's experience(or at least people I've talked to) seems to be the same on that penguin level.

Probably won't play Breath of the Wild for a few years, but at the moment I am playing Majora's Mask and it might challenge Wind Waker for my favorite. The lovers sidequest is pretty deep for a video game, especially in that time period.

MM is definitely my favorite Zelda game. I love the tone and depth.

I'm 27 and have been playing video games as long as I can remember. My parents had an NES and I remember getting up super early on Saturday mornings to play with my dad who's an early bird. Usually we'd play 2 player games but sometimes I would be a punk and say "oh let's play this and take turns" but I never actually gave up my turn haha.

Another memory I have is when OoT first came out. I absolutely needed it and really wanted the gold cartridge edition for my birthday, since it was the next week, but the day it came out I was sick and home from school so I was super nervous my mom wouldn't leave to go get it, so I was like "it really is ok if you have to go get some stuff for me I'll be fine" and just really pushing it haha. She did end up getting it for me, so my persuasions worked
