So excited for both. Going to be a wonderful day. I wish I didn't have to work.

Logan is going to be my Switchmas-Eve distraction. Can't wait.

 

This will be the best Christmas I've had for years. New console and a new Zelda game.

 

My birthday's on Sunday but Switch day will be my real birthday with the Switch being my present to myself.

 

First of, I wanted to say that today has been a shitty day and I just had a really good time reading people's posts about their early Nintendo experiences.

Now for me. I'm 34 and my first experience was when I was about 7. My neighborhood was rather boring and I remember one morning I woke up and my mom told me she thought some kids my age were moving in down the street. I took to my bike and made my way down to their house and sure enough, two boys (a year older than me and 3 years older than me) were moving in. As soon as I got there they said the magic words, "hey, we have a nintendo. do you wanna come play?" That was that. We became friends (the younger of the two my best friend) and their nintendo was my nintendo. A few years later the SNES was released. My friends had made the switch to Sega and I was pretty sure SNES was not going to happen. Then, on December 23rd, my parents surprised me with a Super Nintendo for my birthday. Two days later my life changed forever. On Christmas morning I went straight for the box that looked like a game. I tore the paper off and first laid eyes on my favorite game of all time... The Legend of Zelda: A Link To The Past.

Let me tell you how much this game means to me. I use Irish Spring soap because of it. My parents decided they didn't want me in the living room playing games all the time so they set the SNES up in their bedroom. I spent hours playing Zelda and still associate that time with the smell of the showers my dad would take with irish spring soap. I use that soap to this day.

I have great memories with other SNES games as well: Street Fighter II, Pilot Wings, Sim City, Donkey Kong Country, Aladdin, I could go on forever.

Anyway, I'm rambling. I can't wait for next week. It's going to be a blast.

 

Being as I run a movie theatre, I have to work Thursday night for that. But I'll be leaving early that night to pick up my switch. : )

i'm on the fence about bomberman. i think i've mentioned already but my wife's brother who is 15 will be staying with us for a week starting next wednesday. it's gonna suck to not have a multiplayer game, so i'm considering it.

Ahh don't remind me. It looks so good, but I have a new baby at home and don't think I'll be able to make it to the movies anytime soon

 

I'm assuming you get free admission and popcorn, you lucky SOB.

 

I'll play a Zelda title someday. I've gone my entire life and haven't played a single one :(

Haha, well I don't know why I'm quoting you now either. So guess we're even.

Same with Bomberman. I'm not sure if I'll be buying the Pro immediately, or a 3rd game but I'm definitely considering it. I was hoping the new Shovel Knight would be a surprise launch title (they did say it would be out on Switch first before anywhere else) because I enjoy coop multiplayer a lot.

I just realized how much SNES emulation would be perfect for this. I already said it in this thread but they should really release Zombies Ate My Neighbors on Switch VC

 

I want to pick up a multiplayer game at launch too but I'm not sure yet. Nothing seems like a must at the moment.

I know that this won't apply to many, but it applies to me and I've been checking my order status obsessively in fear of something going wrong so I reallllyyy appreciated them sending that.

 

Also, that email was the final step I needed to get fully hyped. AAAHHH.

 

I swear I thought when I first saw the email I thought that they were cancelling my preorder because they oversold them. Heads were gonna fucking roll haha my blood pressure spiked to unsafe levels.

 

I've already paid off the Switch and Botw and just have to pick them up at the midnight launch. I wish Nintendo would announce the VC plans for the Switch

 

I honestly think at this point they won't have any VC games available at launch.
