The Wii U was my first Nintendo console since the Super Nintendo (I had N64 for a brief period in its heyday but only played a handful of games). For me it was great because I had access to the entire Wii and Wii U library, plus the Virtual Console. Ocarina of Time, Wind Waker, Super Mario 64, Super Mario Galaxy, all new experiences for me. However, comparing just Wii U games to something like just PS3 games is not going to look well in comparison.

We're having a really good discussion now but I feel like by next week we're going to be scraping the bottom of the barrel until release.

Or at least until the embargo is lifted. Haha.

With a great collection of exclusives, off tv play, and great memories playing with friends and family. I have zero regrets about my WiiU purchase.

I bought a GameCube when I was 9 near its launch from saving my allowance. I bought Luigi's Mansion, and then cries on the way home because I thought it would be too scary. So I bought universal theme studio game and cried because it was a trash game. It literally made you pick up trash around the park. :(

I was 12 when the GameCube launched. Payed for it all myself, and held the box on launch day, but still had to wait for Christmas to open and play it.

I knew where my parents had it in their room. So I did a few unboxings after school to just mess around in the menus. This is where I mastered the skill of repackaging consoles, and why I keep all the packaging when I buy new ones now.

I remember oogling the (lime green) Gameboy Color box under my parents bed, waiting for X-mas.

I thought I was good at repacking stuff until my mom took away some Tony Hawk game I had opened early haha.

For me, since people were talking about when they first got into Nintendo, it was at a very young age. Even though I was born in 1990, my parents had an NES that I used to play constantly. My mom would play 2-player Super Mario Bros. games with me, and that really started my love of gaming. I never owned a SNES, even though it was out at the time, but my parents did buy me a Game Boy with Tetris and Super Mario Land on it. I played all three of the Super Mario Land games and loved the hell out of them. Then when I turned seven I got an N64. I got a GameCube when it launched, and a Wii as well. But it was during the N64 generation that I started playing PlayStation as well, and owned a PS1, PS2, and PS3 during the N64, GameCube, and Wii generations. So it was really during the Wii generation when Nintendo started to become my secondary console just for Nintendo games, as I'm sure was the case for a lot of people. But through it all I owned every handheld (GB, GBC, GBA, DS, 3DS, New 3DS) and never lost my love of Nintendo. In fact, there was a point in my life where I kind of fell out of gaming, during my senior year of high school into my freshman year of college. When I got back into gaming during freshman year of college, the first console I bought was a Wii (followed by a PS3). So I've been with Nintendo since the beginning of my gaming life and don't see myself ever not owning a Nintendo console/handheld again.

My introduction to Nintendo was through my mom's employer when I was super young, just prior to preschool. She was a private secretary for this very wealthy lady who worked out of her own home, and she was pretty cool, so rather than making my mom pay for a daycare or something she let mom bring me with her to chill at the house while my mom did her thing. This was heaven for me, as the woman had a very large TV and an NES. Mostly puzzle games, Bubble Bobble, Yoshi's Cookie, etc., but she has the obligatory pack in cart of Mario Bros/Duck Hunt and Mario became my life Monday-Friday for a couple of months lol.
