I'm curious what y'all would think about RoR2. Its accessible right away but also has a steep learning curve to really git gud as well. I fuckin love talking about that game more than anything.

 

ROR2 is great. I don't know if I like it more than the first though.

 

i think that's my second most played this year. 55 hours total!

 

im prob at like 20 since last Thursday lol. the most potato chip gaming experience ive stumbled upon in a long ass time

 

guess i got drunk at my office christmas party and bought FF IX when I got home because it was on sale

I haven't played it in 15-20 years but I remember loving it and it was the first Final Fantasy I ever finished

 

I mean I'm aware of the countless great games on switch but I know in my heart that FFIX will be one of the first things I buy.

 

alright gang I've got $70 of switch credit to spend on games to catch up on over the Christmas break. I'm thinking more Indies than things like Pokemon or Luigi's mansion (which I'm pretty sure someone has got me as a gift). Just picked up Obra Dinn and wanted to play it for ages. What else is good?

also just picked up Stardew Valley (which I used to have on my uk ps4) because I want my grandpa to die again and tell me I will be crushed by the burden of life at the very beginning

 

@mescalineeyes did you ever get back into Blasphemous or did you end up bailing on it?

 

Bailed on it. Couldn’t get over the disappointment. Should I try it again? Did you play it?

 

didn’t pick it up but I’m itching to play something like that and was curious. I really really like the art. what was off about it?

 

The gameplay felt super imprecise, the world looks rather barren and it just, sorry, didn’t feel good.
The art was fucking sick tho.

in all honesty i need to give it a fifth shot apparently. it's one of my biggest gaming frustrations because i typically am able to see in something what others see to an extent but i hate how exploration feels in Dead Cells. the art style makes all areas of a zone, at least early on, feel so samey from start to finish. it feels so blatantly procedurally generated to me, more so than any other roguelike, and some rooms just come out so clunky with too many pointless areas.

i am determined for it click. at least @oldjersey and @dadbolt paid for it lmao get fucked you two

 

You’re not wrong, but the art style and how good the actual game feels to play made it worth it for me.
If this was a real Metroid game the level design wouldn’t cut it.
