Right?? I feel like I just leave that damn thing plugged in all the time now because of how often I have to charge it. Ugh.

Also goddamn, that Pro controller also has an NFC sensor in it for amiibo functionality. Didn't know that either. Crazy. So Nintendo is putting way more functionality into their controller and it has 40 hours of battery life. Sony is fucking up.

that controller is really comfortable (and i'm a weirdo who prefers the symmetrical sticks of a playstation controller) but goddamn, the battery life is so bad

You're not the only one. Honestly, this generation is the first one I can honestly say where both Microsoft and Sony had extremely comfortable controllers (after the 360 was obviously the clear winner in that regard last-gen). And the Switch Pro Controller looks like it will be as well, as it is clearly in the Microsoft mold.

Oh yeah. the ds4 feels excellent, especially compared to the ds3 . That battery life is horrendous tho.

Memories are nice, but that's all they are. Prestigious

I literally had to buy another PS4 controller and a charging stand because of how fast the controllers die.

The fact that I will soon have the option of playing a console Zelda on my work lunch breaks is still sort of mind-blowing to me.

Yeah and the first generation of them that launched with the console were kind of sneakily poorly made as well. Like, they seemed pretty high-quality at first but the padding of the analog sticks wore down and ripped pretty quickly just from regular use and the battery kind of died fast than I've ever seen a battery die on a controller before, ever. The new models they released around the PS4 Pro launch are better, but they still can't hold a charge for long enough.

Yeah, my original PS4 controller has a torn analog stick, the newer one I bought is extremely nice though.

I mean, I criticize every platform holder when they deserve it. Nintendo has its flippant attitude toward its fans, Sony has clear frontrunner complacency and doesn't always make its hardware of the highest quality, and Microsoft is still plotting to bring always-online and DRM to home consoles despite their contrite attitude since the Xbox One announcement debacle.

But they all have good things about them as well. Nintendo has the best franchises and their first-party titles are always of high quality, Sony has the best stable of first-party developers (who they don't force to rush their products out) and has been able to respond surprisingly well to market feedback, and Microsoft still has the best online infrastructure and the best controller (even if their pack-in controllers still use batteries, for some reason).

I was just joking haha. Lucky is a known sony hater in the vg thread and i was just busting his chops a little.

All three companies are certainly not above criticism.

was off yesterday and all I could think about was how awesome it will be to wake up, roll over, grab my Switch and play Zelda from my bed. there was something about that idea and the almost springtime natural light coming in that just put the biggest smile on my face.

well i feel like we're at a point now where we're not going to get another direct from nintendo before launch. i doubt ther'll be a VC at launch which kinda sucks, but oh well.

Hey man I just planted the seeds, you guys grew this tree all on your own ;D

Also, I don't like this narative, haha. It's not like I think Microsoft (though they are doing some weird stuff that is somewhat interesting, like merging their platforms) is doing a good job this gen, I just happened to like Gears and Halo.

I traded in some stuff for credit toward my Switch this weekend and afterward I was also overcome with the realization that this thing is actually launching next week. I can't wait to just get my hands on it. I still, at 26, feel like a kid when a new toy comes out.

I may trade my Wii U in this weekend. I don't really need to, but it would take the edge off of the irresponsibility I'm feeling for purchasing it lol.
