i don't hate Year Zero. i just think other albums have much stronger songs throughout. it's cool you got to experience it live though! i've heard a lot about the Year Zero ARG. would've been cool to be a part of at the time.
don't know what you have and haven't heard, but TSN is obviously a good place to start. Dragon Tattoo is my personal favorite.
That cover of Immigrant Song w/Karen O from the Dragon Tattoo soundtrack is so fucking good! and i'm not a Led Zeppelin fan at all
same on all counts. and the HTDA cover of Is Your Love Strong Enough? is a nice bookend to the whole 3 hours of music. new HTDA album when?
100% agree that year zero is the weakest but most intriguing, there's actually some documentation of it: And yes, the Slip is goddamn incredible. One of my favorite releases, which also led to the lights in the sky tour which is one of the most epic things I ever saw. During "Discipline" Josh used the screen behind him as a faux step sequencer to build the beat as the song started. I was floored.
not much of an issue on my end since i force uploaded my own copies of their discography to Apple Music when i joined, but in the wake of Interscope getting the rights to their post-Year Zero back-catalog, apparently lots of people have been complaining about streaming copies of most of the band's releases recently disappearing from their libraries and either not coming back or showing back up with a new master riddled with issues. aside from the US, Hesitation Marks is pretty much gone everywhere, and there are wonky mastering issues on The Slip and Add Violence that unnecessarily add compression/decrease the loudness of some songs or add unnecessary gaps of silence during pivotal transitions between tracks. the only plus i've seen is that Year Zero is now listed as having a hi-res lossless master, which i don't think has existed before, but who knows if anything was messed up with that. all of this to say, if you're missing something from your streaming libraries, you might have to re-add it, or find a different way to listen to it without any playback issues.
Gone Girl is one that i really do wanna revisit, but in the right time and context. i think i only heard it once a long time ago, but i think i need to be in the mood to dive into it again. i can really only speak for the scores that stood out to me the most, and the ones listed above (and maybe Soul) really did it for me. i know Gone Girl and TMNT also get a bit of love. there are others they've done that i thought were decent but maybe not as impactful (Waves was one of these), and one or two that i do enjoy listening to, but only occasionally because the task is a bit daunting (Bird Box Extended and Mank, both of which i have on vinyl)
I've been coming back to The Fragile a lot recently. Just a sprawling listen that I love. Obviously comes from a very dark and difficult period in Trent's life but I wouldn't cut anything from it.
Same. Hoping atleast half the setlist is swapped out. Also want to see the merch. Can't wait for round 2 next weekend
Trying to make it to the CLT show. I just know I'm going to be dead at work (5:30ish) the next morning, having a 2 1/2 hr drive back afterwards. But, it's about time I see them live.
