Wow..... That album opened up a lot for me - it was like 1989 or so? I was a couple years into college when it came out an alternative radio was king for me. The radio hits were something I hadnt heard before. I was at college radio at the time then as well. And the genre to me, was amazing.
I Cannot remember what I had for breakfast today, but I can sing all the words to the radio hits from this album in karaoke, without missing a beat, I bet....
'Challengers': Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross on Creating Score “We’re taking the inspiration we’ve garnered and funneling it into a Nine Inch Nails project, which we’re working on now,” says Reznor. “We’re ready to be back in the driver’s seat.”
i'm ready for some abrasive and beautiful music. their EP/album trilogy really revitalized their sound and i'd love to see them try something with that fervor again (albeit maybe with a few less instrumentals). also pumped for the Ares score, obviously.
Those 3 EPs are pretty dang solid and very different from each other. I enjoy anything Trent puts together. Hope to see them again live in 2025 and beyond. Lucky to have seen them atleast half a dozen times in my lifetime.
the EP trilogy fucking rules, some of NIN’s most complex and sophisticated songwriting therein imo. if they were combined into a full length, it could very well be my favorite post-Fragile NIN work.
years ago i burned them to a CD in release order to play in my car, lol. i generally consider it one body of work.
One of my all time fav live vids, even though it’s from a tour rehearsal. reallyyyyyy hope we get some headline shows this year that dive into the deep cuts. One of the only bands where I could do without hearing any of the “hits”.
They played The Lovers when I saw them and it was sick. I only saw them play one time and it was only 16 songs but it was a pretty perfect setlist for a first time NIN show Nine Inch Nails Setlist at Primavera Sound Los Angeles 2022
I was lucky to see The Lovers live too in 2022. Nine Inch Nails Setlist at Metropolitan Opera House, Philadelphia
I was at this one too and it was incredible. Somewhat Damage as an opener was a bucket list thing for me
Man, I saw them open with Somewhat Damaged at a super small last minute show in NYC like 8 years ago and I thought the floor was going to cave in when they started to play it.
