Used to really like this band when they first came out. Seems like lately they're having a bit of an identity crisis. getting major harry styles 'as it was' vibes from 'like I do'.
Newest single is very very good, one before it was awful to me but this is so good I will give the last one a try again
Like I do is better in context. The overuse of falsetto in a lot of the new(er) songs just starts to grate on me. Radiohead is still a skipper for me.
Yeah much better than I anticipated and way more cohesive than the debut. Some serious cheese mixed in but a few bops for sure. Just miss the darker edge some of the earlier tunes had.
Most of the songs are solid. I don’t mind the structure but you do hear different musical aims depending on which part of the album you play. No coincidence that the two TEB sounding songs are back-to-back. It works for me but I can see how someone wouldn’t be into it as a whole. Really would like more of the reprise closer.
They’re one of my favorite bands and I love this album so far, but I completely agree that I miss some of the darker sound of their earlier stuff. I don’t need an album of it but a song or two like that would’ve been dope.
I'm loving this so far. Having trouble getting to all the songs because I keep replaying The Feeling.
I also miss the sound of their earlier work but I absolutely love that they went in this direction rather than staying put with the sound they developed on their last album. Man, "the feeling" is a jam. really digging "pink starburst" too.
Go listen to "it's not your body" and "shirt" and tell me they don't really sound like the 1975 at all haha
I was listening to this album on the way to work this morning and literally thought my Spotify switched to The 1975 at one point. Haven't had a chance to thoroughly give it my attention, but I like what I heard so far.
Yeah I hear 1975 bits and flourishes all over this. Not a bad thing though, I'll always take more stuff like that, regardless of who is doing it
I am enjoying this so far and it’s better than I hoped up until My Boys (uncomfortably terrible imo) and Whiskey Pt 2 didn’t need to happen just like the first one
