The new songs are spectacular. I have nothing against Doug or the first singer, but it seems clear that they should have stayed instrumental all along. Their songwriting shines when they shy away from conventional song structures. It's also nice to hear a technical band that, considering the genre, doesn't retort to endless djent riffs.
I'm a fan of both sides of Night Verses. I loved some of the spacey/atmospheric stuff with the vocals and the new technical stuff blows my mind. Copper Wasp made my jaw drop.
I'm so ready to give this a listen! I haven't had an instrumental record really rock me since Guidance.. hoping this one will do the trick
Halfway through this album and it rules. Between these guys and Strawberry Girls - I am gonna be in drummer heaven on their summer tour.
Really like the pacing on this. They throw in the soft moments at just the right time.. No.0 is so so good
Yeah this is just excellent all around. Perfect balance of intensity and calmness, some truly mindblowing performances but never so much that it's overwhelming. Probably about as good as an album I could have hoped for from them after the announcement they were going instrumental
I really love this on first listen. The stuff they did with Doug was really good, but I feel like going instrumental has given them the freedom to go wherever they want. Some of the performances here are absolutely incredible.
Probably, if you follow Nick on his instagram and soundcloud accounts, he had hundreds of snippets of random riffs at one point and I recognized some of them from way back. Dude's a machine. Fantastic album by the way. This is the most dynamic they've ever sounded in some way. Tons of twists and turns. The use of vocal samples is appreciated. I will need a few more listens to digest the whole thing.
yeah, this opinion will go against the grain, but this band is much better without Doug at the helm. Always seemed like they were opposing forces clashing with each other, and is one of the major reasons I could never get into the other 2 albums. new album is absolutely fantastic is what I'm getting at
Yeah, there is some crossover there. I chose this show because it's artists I haven't seen and I am not too famiiar with Quicksand. It's also 5 bands for $15, which you can't shake a stick at!
