Agreed on this, but as long as Doug does stuff with The Sleeping than im totally happy. Still bummed The Sleeping reunion shows were cancelled last December and June.
I adore From The Gallery of Sleep so much more than just "like" the other stuff. Infinity Beach is my fav track.
No, I listened to the instrumental stuff way more than the albums with vocals. Not knocking them, but each instrument got to go absolutely wild without needing to support vocals. I’m here for where they go next with this album!
Hopefully they announce their new album soon or whatever they've been recording according to their Instagram
I like all of albums but prefer vocals. Gallery of Sleep is the only instrumental album I listen to. Would love to get record 4 in 2023.
Finally, didn’t get into these guys until the Gallery of Sleep singles came out. The other albums are good but feel like another band. Ready for more from the trio
Quoting myself here because The Sleeping suddenly changed their instagram handle, archived every post, and posted this. The major announcement must certainly be related to new music. I'm excited to hear Doug's voice again!
I feel like each sleeping record gets darker and darker. And honestly, better and better. Miss them so much. Had tickets for ther reunion show in 2021 that got rescheduled twice. Sadly, I cant make this date. Super bummed, but the post makes it seem like they will be doing more shows and potentially new music. Im all in. I just listened to Doug on a podcast last week and he stated he had a few projects going on, but couldnt let the cat out of the bag yet.
Night Verses adjacent but I've never given Nick's other project headcave a proper listen and... this slaps? I think it's the vocals from My Ticket Home's singer that seal the deal because I'm usually not fond of djent, even though Nick manages to make that genre sound exciting with his signature tricks. It's interesting to hear how this differs more or less subtly from the material he keeps for Night Verses while you can tell the guitar riffing is distinctively his.
The first EP is really good. It’s with the drummer from In Flames too (at least the first EP was). I like a lot of what they have put out. Nick is an awesome guitarist
That’s crazy cuz I just recently discovered My Ticket Home and while I really liked some of the instrumentation I couldn’t really get a sense for the singer. He had some really cringe lyrics but I did enjoy his voice somewhat. Maybe I’ll check out that project.
They've been on my mind a lot recently and it's wild to think we're coming up on 5 years since From The Gallery Of Sleep's release. They haven't posted a studio update in a while but it seemed like they were close to the finishing stages on the last post I remember. Hopefully an announcement will follow soon. Also getting super impatient because I somehow can't find another band that scratches the same itch as they do. I'm very picky with instrumental bands though.
Really excited for an eventual tour. Saw them at a 75 cap venue last time and I would strongly like to repeat that exact same night.
