Yeah, I mean, that's where a fact sheet is certainly not enough to say "they have it covered"...but ultimately this is a function of the NFLPA leadership being good at their jobs. The NFLPA fact sheet said they have it covered; so, that's either true or the players are fucked because they picked bad leadership.

The 2010 CBA fight was so long and protracted because the owners were actively trying to screw the players. Like, taking revenue percentages from them AND forcing 18 games on them AND by the way we'll suspend you for whatever we like just because. And you'll take it because we have all the power. That's not what this feels like, especially as they are giving boosts of basically every aspect of the CBA. I'll be honest, I think the owners rushing here feels a bit like a money grab versus a devious plan. The faster they do his, the faster they get more playoff games, the faster they get 17 games, the faster their GMs have cap space ahead of free agency, etc. A CBA signed in July doesnt really do that.

  2. My company is just starting to. And they didn't send a communication to the employees, it came through Fidelity. And it's not easy to understand. But basically it's a $46 a year fee from Fidelity plus a quarterly fee to be paid to my employer depending on the balance in your account.

That's interesting then. I'll be curious if its as simple as not liking 17 games, or if there's some shady shit hidden in there

well yeah sure but you also have to wait an extra year for the comp pick rather than maybe get the pick from the trade sooner

By the way, I think these two things are very related. NFL owners were super greedy in 2010, and so the players never really got to make the smaller structural changes that this one does; instead they focused on revenue overall.

The thing the players did that was really smart was take a slightly smaller percentage of revenue, but define revenue more broadly (there were a bunch of things that didnt get included prior to 2011...something like gambling income would 100% have not been included pre-2011). So it looks like this:

Players will receive 55 percent of national media revenue, 45 percent of NFL Ventures revenue, and 40 percent of local club revenue.

Gambling would be in that NFL Ventures pot, and its already a part of the previous CBA in theory. Might be part of why this negotiation went a lot smoother than the last one...much in the way that MLB locked out a whole season, and every CBA negotiation since has been incredibly mild

Yeah; not even an Osweiler trade to be made there...only way it makes any sense is a contender with a bunch of cap space willingly taking on his 2020 for like a 4th round pick. But there has to be a team that both wants him and has epic cap space (like an IND?)

I will also not be stunned one bit if Will Brinson drops a tweet in an hour that says the owners want to redo that formula that screws players out of gambling money...I'm extremely leery of the NFLPA team being good at their jobs

its great that he is a good athlete but he is not a great offensive lineman from what I've seen

A lot of the love he gets is based on projection

Coaches will convince themselves they can turn his tools and potential into something more

I think he’d be a really good guard if he can get stronger

I get the feeling we're about to get a couple of hilarious details from the proposal. The NFLPA fact sheet presented a pretty good deal, so there's clearly something real bad they hid
