Always do the right thing. Supporter

The only reason I would support a 17 game season would be for Stafford or Mahomes to potentially break 6000 yards but I also want the players to be healthy and live long lives so

I’m not sure there’s like a good rivalry match for all 32 teams lol

Now I’m curious which teams don’t have a fun rival like that.

    Cowboys/Texans
    Eagles/Steelers
    Giants/Jets
    Ravens/Redskins

Thats NFC East off the top of my head.

I think when I flipped things I did it to make Pats-Ravens a rivalry

    I cant remember though

Boo Jags / Steelers have been more important recent games than Steelers Eagles :-p

I think the Eagles and Seahawks or Eagles and Chiefs would be good ones

Why the fuck would the players accept this? If it gets implemented in 2021, there are a bunch of players who lose millions...

My choices are purely proximity; so I’m sure there are more interesting ones. Like, rivalries with historical bad beats. Bills/Cowboys kind of thing.

Eagles Vikings maybe if we’re goin REAL recent. Hell Eagles and Falcons went hard for a little bit as well. Eagles just have tons of publicity and very salty fans lol

No yeah Pats Ravens is a perfect rivalry. John Harbaugh understands and keeps up with Belicheck more than anybody. It’s possible Brian Flores in MIA changes that though.

Who is the non-division rival for:

    49ers (Raiders?)
    Dolphins
    Bills
    Panthers
    Broncos
    Vikings
    Lions
    Titans
    Jaguars
    Buccaneers
    Falcons
    Chiefs
    Bears
    Packers (Seahawks? Ugh)

those are just off the top of my head

It makes sense on paper but really we never have good or important games against them haha. Usually we suck when we play them so it’s never really been competitive

    Jaguars is obviously Steelers

Our AFC Central rivalry pre-2002 just never really stopped since then and we keep having close, exciting games against each other despite both rosters transforming a lot.

Cowboys have a Super Bowl/NFC Championship rivalry with 49ers, Bills, and Steelers

Falcons/Vikings would rule because of 1998.

We’ve played more games against Pitt than any other non division team and the record is 12-12. The Steelers are usually better but we always play them well. We have kicked them out of the playoffs 2 of the last 3 times we went and our games are often decided by a field goal.

From what I've seen, the big time stuff is:

    1. Players get 48% of revenue instead of 47% (48.5% when it goes to 17 games)
    2. Playoffs add 2 teams
    3. Franchise/Transition tag get whittled down to one or the other
    4. Marijuana basically off the substances list

I'm sure there's a bunch of smaller stuff too; little things like softening training camps + owners getting stronger fines for holdouts had a pretty big impact out of the last CBA from the little things. But everything Ive seen so far is the owners getting big things in exchange for the players getting more money.

The big caveat of how I did things also is that it has to be cross-conference. Therefore Jags-Steelers wouldn't work since both are AFC

Well. We suck against the whole NFC every time we play any NFC team ever so we’re screwed hahaha

I seriously, it’s really hard to think of times we’ve beaten an NFC team aside from like, the 2-14 Giants last year or some bullshit like that.

Id be curious to see what's worse, adding a 17th game to a season, or a player playing a 17th season instead of just 16 seasons. I suspect the actual wear and tear of one more week isnt as much as the grind of preparing for each new season.

Brady has played like 18-20 game seasons his whole career and he's going just as strong as say, Ryan Fitzpatrick who hasnt played a 17 game season ever.

And they get paid more a season if contracts all go up the extra ~6% of an extra game + ~3% from more revenue. Which is a big deal for players who never get a 2nd contract, etc.

In reality, the 17th game will almost assuredly be decided by a yearly rotating boring algorithm. Nothing that interesting.
