The thing that sucks about the idea of them trading Woods is that he's arguably their best WR and has a good rapport with Goff. Cooks is the guy they should try to get rid of, but, even if they traded him, they're still tied to a bunch of dead money for him.

That Gurley trade is interesting though. If I'm the Lions, I'd be more excited for the draft picks than Gurley because those picks could both be top 50 picks. Cutting Gurley becomes MUCH more stomachable in 2021 ($8.4M in dead money, $4.8M saved) so it's not necessarily a bad idea.

I think the Rams cap situation right now is honestly fascinating. They are a great example of what not to do as a GM.

Yeah I’m cool with it. I know we’ll end up getting a few more picks from a potential trade from #3 and then whatever Slay brings us back which makes me more okay with it as long as we sign a good CB in free agency.

 

Sure, but he was also whiney as fuck about the Patriots ending the Chargers championship hopes before they ever got started. Fuck him.

He got super butthurt because a player did Shawn Merriman's stupid lights out dance at the end of a playoff game. It was a long time ago so i know i'm forgetting stuff but whatever. He was really really good, i will admit that haha.

 

Even better, off a trade, he has no dead money for the Lions. They get him in 2020 at $5.5mil, and in 2021 he's a $4mil base salary + $5mil roster bonus. Might even be able to convince Gurley to take that 2021 roster bonus as a signing bonus upfront so cutting him in 2021 gets even easier.

Weirdly, I think they are one of the few teams that saw the cap explosion coming (and continuing it seems with this new CBA), so they took the biggest risk. The Gurley deal is backfiring for sure...its not clear their other deals are though. By the time they should be completely screwed (2022), the cap might be $30+ million higher and thats just the rounding error of Goff's deal.

Really honestly intrigued by how the league is making all these changes. NFL is gonna get more entertaining imo (though I am speaking selfishly as a spectator)

We have the money but using both tags was the fallback plan. We’ll see, I guess...

 

Having only one tag def kills a lot of leverage though. Now Dak can call up Jax or someone and be like "hey, want a top 10 QB?" and force Dallas to make a decision.

 

Tag Dak let Cooper walk trade up for CeeDee and sign Byron

 

Have there been any reports over what the players are getting in all of this? Usually the CBA is some long, drawn out bitter standoff/shitshow but it seems like everything is coming together pretty quickly this time around?
