They can get Slay all they want but they still have Jared Goff.

Goff got them within 10 points of winning a Super Bowl. That's not like...the worst thing in the world lol

I don't buy that the Broncos are going to trade picks/assets for Slay, they could just re-sign Harris who is still better than him lol. Yeah Harris is older but they're both up there in age so it's not like it makes a huge difference

Lol I'm aware. But saying "getting talent around Goff won't help because you still have Goff" doesn't really make sense to me since they already got to the Super Bowl with Goff. They were one bad blitz pickup away from tying that thing.

I mean that's great and all but it still doesn't change that he's not good. They had talent around him this past season and how did that turn out ? All's I'm saying is I don't think he's that good. I also think McVay was the reason why they even got to that SB.

    Goff is average

Gurley was injured/shot/not good this year which greatly affected that team. Their OLine also sucks

Goff is likely never going to be better than a mediocre, middle-of-the-road QB who needs a lot around him to go right in order to perform at his best. That Rams offense was awesome for two years and they got to a SB in year two of it. Their offensive line sucked last year, which was the main culprit behind both Goff and Gurley struggling.

Now they are in cap hell because they signed Goff to a mega contract when they probably shouldn’t have and they have Gurley signed to a dumbass contract, plus they have no high draft capital for the foreseeable future because they made a dumb, unnecessary trade for Ramsey.

That team is boned regardless of how good/mediocre/bad Goff is as a QB.

Oh they're def boned, i just didn't agree with some of the logic lol

For sure. I think there’s a lot more to the shortcomings of that team than just Goff. There’s a lot of blame to go around there and it should mostly be directed towards Les Snead for making dumbass decisions. If he trades whatever mentionable draft capital the team has left for Slay then it’s another glowing example of how short sighted he is

More playoff games to watch is more fun. Two additional spots creates/extends competition in the regular season. Plenty of good teams that would now have a better chance to make the playoffs. Losing the bye for the second seed kinda sucks for them but it makes the first seed even more exclusive but that’s what comes with being the best in your conference.

I can’t really think of any negatives that really bum me out actually.

To be clear, 14 teams is the most I’d want in the playoffs because I don’t think half the teams should make it. Only way more teams makes sense to me is if they actually add more teams to the league overall.

Honestly the idea of expanding it to 14 teams never even occurred to me. I figured the next time there was an (inevitable) expansion it’d be to 16 teams (which is still inevitable imo)

There's a way for them to swing it without being completely screwed, but, trading for Slay is NOT that. They can find the cap space to do it, for sure, but the end game of it is just the inevitable cap hell of 2021 and 2022.

Rams have $23mil in cap space according to Spotrac, I can easily get them to ~$55-60mil in cap space while only trading Robert Woods off the team. But their ultimate approach only works if they replace a couple of their really pricy guys with young talent, and having no 1sts in 2020 + 2021, plus no 5th this year and no 4th next year already makes that hard.

Only possible version of a trade I can imagine is a 2020 2nd and 2021 2nd + Todd Gurley for Slay (where the Rams eat his roster bonus money). I can see why the Lions might accept that, and also why that would be pretty far from the best offer they'd get.
